Please don’t paint us all with the same broad brush
#1
I like listening to conservative talk radio. I love Rogue Nation. I belong to ATS too but don’t do too much posting there anymore because people there tend to be rude and nasty. I am a military veteran, a Christian, and a liberal. Believe it or not, those are not mutually exclusive. I don’t want to defund the police. I don’t believe in open borders. I believe our police and border patrol need more personnel and they work their asses off to keep this country safe. We should increase funding to law enforcement, not cut it. I believe in kindness towards all. I try to live my life with purpose and integrity. I don’t believe in big government.

I believe there are extremists on both sides of the political spectrum. But I’m not some window breaking lawless person throwing rocks. I sure as hell ain’t woke. I am not some crybaby snowflake who is triggered all the time. But I see so many posts and hear on conservative podcasts that anyone who is liberal is many of the things I mentioned above, and we get called all kinds of nasty names. Oh, and it takes a lot to offend me. I laugh at politically incorrect inappropriate things all the time. So why do liberals get painted with the same broad brush all the time? It pisses me off. No, I’m not triggered, nor offended. Annoyed, yeah.

I’d say most of my friends are conservative. They are intelligent, nice, funny, and I will not dump anyone just because they disagree with me politically. Unfortunately, some of my conservative friends have dumped me. So who is triggered here? I feel like I’m not. Being liberal, I have an attitude of “whatever floats your boat.” You do you boo. As long as it isn’t hurting anyone, go for it.

I do not think that all conservatives are racist Trump worshippers. So how about give us liberals a break and a chance. We don’t all bite. Okay, only when I’m provoked, but whatever, LOL! Please have an open mind and don’t paint us all with the same broad brush. We all are pretty diverse in this country after all.

I'm in the middle being accused of being a Nazi racist republican , meanwhile being called a liberal pussy because everyone thinks there is no middle ground. The right seems to be kinder then the left. Also, I threw my vote away for voting Libertarian.

Guess what, I don't give a fuck because I have a brain and not following an agenda.

I don't do politics, identity politics, political correctness and what ever bullshit they want you to abide to.

I have common sense. You do you, I will do me, and don't waste all my money on bullshit.

I am a Libertarian but lean hard Conservative and my best friend of 43 years is a pretty far left-leaning Liberal. When we disagree on matters we just agree to disagree. We accept each other for who we are. Politics is only a small part of who we are as people.

One thing we have ALWAYS agreed on is a philosophy of live and let live. If everybody else would get on board with that the world would be a much better place.

People obsess with labels and allowing those labels to define both themselves and others.

I refuse to be defined or restrained by some manmade ideological construct....I try to judge things on their own individual merits free from any sort of bias.
On some things I guess I'm right-wing, on many things I guess many would call me left-wing....and I dare say I might have what some would describe as conflicting views.

I have friends of all political persuasions, some more passionate and entrenched than others.
Some friends are strictly apolitical and genuinely couldn't give a toss - they just concentrate on living their lives the best they can, which to be fair is all any of us can do.

I have my own personal moral code which I try to stick to at all times - obviously I fail sometimes, more often than I'd like - and for me personally that is far more important than any ideological dogma or stereotyped label.

I'm with Jinmi. Let's take the government's propaganda brushes/crayons from them. Let's make government smaller and let the states have more say in what happens. Let states regulate themselves if they feel they need it. I consider myself libertarian/republican. One thing for me is I am tired of being taken for stupid by those who represent me. If anything it is the other way around. If they are so smart then why are we 30 trillion dollars in debt. My 2 cents

Registering as an Independent.  Gave up on Republicans.  They're just 'the other half' of the gooberment.

Both halves are the fuck out of control.  All of 'em need to die ... unless they fix it so they kill us first.

Problem is: They have a plan for that ... and we don't (yet).

For me, I won't give you a label.

If I want to know what you think about something, I will ask you a specific question. It sounds like you are willing to help me out on that. I would only ask you do the same for me.

It seems there are people for whom it is more important to belong to a team than anything else. They are difficult, if not impossible, to discuss something with. They do not have organic opinions on anything, rather they cheerlead. Makes for a boring debate. No resolution on anything.

I will disagree with you on one point. That is, the concept that any issue has two sides. There are not "A" or "B" positions on every issue. Life is rarely that simple. Instead, I think that just feeds the team-needers view of their world. It also helps obfuscate for those requiring a smoke screen to cover their real actions.

Explanation: Uhmmm, Why do you identify as a 'liberal' please @ChiefD ???

I think you are misconstruing what liberals actually are and you're forgetting what libertarians are.

Liberals want to destroy stuff by widening whats acceptable and denying the past status quo's workability and hence they are all authoritarian progressives who deny reality as it is.

Libertarians dont give a fuck what you do or have done or what you are going to do unless it directly impacts on them and hence they are all paleo-conservatives who accept reality as it is.

Please note the difference ok.

Personal Disclosure: @ Liberals,... there is NO good reasons to change anything that already works ok as to do so would be insanity.

@ Conservatives,... there is NO good reasons to keep doing the same old when it no longer works ok as that would be insanity.

@ Conservatives,... you being upset at what currently no longer works, such as the soap/ballot/jury/ammo boxes of liberty and the nuclear family unit bound by christian values naturally, doesn't help and only causes chaos and is irrational and illogical and unreasonable. Stop it and get some help!

@ Liberals,... your feelz cant hurt me!

@ Conservatives,... I feelz you ok and yes it hurts!

I hope this reply is likewise,... a detailed whitewashing of conservative policies and a broad whiting-out of liberal ideologies,... as that way lies socialism and that is the slippery slope towards authoritarian communism and losing our humanity.

Thank you all for the well thought of replies! I love that you all are civilized and nice in your replies, even if you may not agree on some things. Yeah, I know things aren’t black and white, many shades of grey. I dislike extremism on both sides. I think most of us are smart and have common sense about how things work. I’m very open minded to hear many views. I shake my head at things both sides are doing and saying.

I've been accused of being the worst of both sides.  Depending on the view of the person making the accusation.

It's really too bad people need to pigeonhole everyone.
It's really too bad we were so easily conditioned to allow these divides.

My son asked me the other day why there was so much divisiveness.

I said that once upon a time, we all wanted the same thing, we all wanted to go the same direction it was just that political parties had different ways of accomplishing that.

The reason we have so much division now is because we all don't want the same goals, the same destinations, the same end results.

I said republicans would say 2+2=4 and democrats would say 1+3=4 and they'd both be right.

Just different ways of getting the same answer.

Now?

one side says 2+2=4 and the other side says 3+3=6.

Both are right in their approach, but as a nation, we cannot agree on what the desired solution should be.

Good answer, but from what I see in my travels, there are more Americans saying 2+2 =4, and they agree in spirit.

But the media has to distort, and manipulate everything, so it looks like we are divided, when we all want the same thing, and are a lot more comfortable with getting there the way they know to be tried and true, than taking some BS path rigged up by a lying and corrupt system.

We need to unplug, disconnect, shut down, walk outside and talk to your neighbors.

There are some sure enough crazy folks out there, but not near as many as those that are sane, fed up, and ready to walk away from a system that is destroying all of us.

That is why they will pull out all the stops to make sure we do not become united.

Explanation: I morally agree with you @beez and @NightskyeB4Dawn

BUT the MSM dont agree ... they be pushing 1+1=3

Which is actually factually correct, surprisingly they got it right for once.

Here is why ...

The Universe runs on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_st..._mechanics

And that means the following ...

Diclaimer: My father was the head beaurecrat public servant in the Australian Beureau of Statistics and he taught me some crazy shit about it all ok.

1+1=3 is statistically correct for large values of 1 ...and since they ROUND OFF the numbers [they dont tell you that ok ... you must learn it and if you haven't then too bad for you and you only learn it at higher levels of maths] that means the following ...

1.4 + 1.4 = 2.8 ... now round off to the closest number ...

1.4 is less than 1.5 so it rounds down and therefor is shown as 1

2.8 is higher than 2.5 so it rounds up and therefor is shown as 3

Hence 1+1=3 [for large values of 1]

ALSO ...

You can never be sure of what you actually have as your homo-sapein senses are fallible and optical illusions prove that.

Descartes also proved that philosophically ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHihkRwisbE

And thats why they round off shit ok.

Existence itself covers all probabilities and is all possibilities ... at the same fucking moment ... its called the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse

Quote:The multiverse is a hypothetical group of multiple universes.[a] Together, these universes comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, energy, information, and the physical laws and constants that describe them. The different universes within the multiverse are called "parallel universes", "other universes", "alternate universes", or "many worlds".

So nobody is ever wrong as what they are saying actually exists ... but does it exist here and now becomes the new set of questions.

The media knows they can bend reality with beliefs ... this is magic .. mind over matter ... and guess what? IT WORKS OK!

They create intent and that drags that reality bubble closer to this reality bubble until the two are the same or are indistinguishable from each other at 99.999% probability of time and space.

Mandela/Mandala  effects show that the value of that probability has changed as now millions+ of people are aware that reality has been changed physically from what it once was as far as their long term memory reflects.

So intent matters a yuge fucking lot ok ... it affects whats possible here and whats most likely probable also.

My current intent with this reply was to play devils advocate for the MSM ... they know full well what evil shit they are doing and why.

Its about playing games with peoples minds and getting paid for that ... its always been a freaking PSYOP ok.

My first intent and reply was to clarify things clearly for the OP and everyone else also.

We are all like individual fingers [me/you] on a palm [society/the herd]... and we need to come together sometimes, like making a solid fist, to do great works that are impossible for one person to achieve on their own.

NOTE: I identify as a OPPOSABLE THUMB ok! You need me to complete the fist!

I hope this helps everyone ... but I am fine to be told otherwise ... have at it ... come at me bruh!

I appreciate your candor.  I'll speak for myself when I say I have probably stereotyped liberals in the past, but in the same breath I have some family members who are uber-liberals, and some good friends who are the same.  I don't hate on them.

However, here's the rub (and I will readily acknowledge what I am about to say is a two-way street); you have to consider who are the leaders of the party you side with.  And, I'm sorry, but there is absolutely no way I could be a part of a party who promotes the likes of Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer, Schiff, and many others.  I can overlook a lot of stuff, but outright bald face lying and overt dishonesty isn't one of them.  Now, before you launch your counter rebuttal...let me finish.

I used to call myself a Republican, and I did vote for Trump this last election (primarily for the above reasons), BUT...I no longer consider myself a true Republican (I just know the math of elections).  I have completely turned off FOX news (until recently), and avoid the MSM like the plague.  However, recently FOX has started doing something which America, AND the MSM, AND the World need to start doing...going after the "Establishment Elites"!!  (Both Republican AND Democrat).

So, right now I belong to the "Anti-Career Politician" Party, and the "Anti-Establishment Elites" Party, and I could give a fuck less what color arm band they wear because it's irrelevant.  For example, I think Tulsi Gabbard has some good things to say.  I think DeSantis has some good things to say...and there was one thing Trump said which I agree with 1000%...

"DRAIN THE SWAMP!!!"

The SWAMP absolutely MUST be drained, regardless of cost!  The future of America (if there is one) absolutely depends on this!

The monikers of Democrat and Republican are irrelevant anymore.  The terms "Left" and "Right" are also irrelevant.  There are no differences between the two once the doors close between the public and these political scum.  The "Establishment" swamp does not represent America (at all), and they have to GO!  Period.

The bottom line for me is basically this...anyone who supports the likes of a Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer, Schiff or any other of these political career hacks (or similar Republicans), immediately gets dropped in the 'broad brush' bucket.  If we agree on this one point, then we're good.

That's just my honest .02
