The Evil Economics of OnlyFans
#1
I will out myself on this topic. I had heard the the name "Only Fans", here and there, on a rare occasion. I knew nothing about it and I still only know what I learned from this video.

I am posting this just in case there is anyone else out there that was as ignorant of this being such at thing. I knew all about "Back Page" because it played a huge role in the my job and many of my patients. I knew about the hook up apps, so I am surprised this one got past me.

Now let me tell you how I tripped up on this. I ran into a friend and asked her how daughter was doing since graduation. She told me she had gone off to college, but she quit, because she had a web site, where she was making more money than she would make working a nine to five. I know that some young people were making money on the internet and the first thing that came to mind was PewDiePie.

When I asked her about the site, she said she didn't mess with the internet, and she wasn't sure of the name of the site. I thought no more of it, until my friend called me to brag that her daughter had shown she a huge deposit made to her account from her online job. Again I didn't think anything about it until, I ran into her and her daughter and while we were talking, someone recognized her daughter. He was very young, silly, and was overwhelmed to see her in person. So I asked the daughter about her web page, She only said that it wasn't really a page, that she just worked at night talking to people live. I could see she was uncomfortable so I didn't push.

Then I stumbled onto this. Now it all makes sense, except that this girl does not need money. Her Mother is very wealthy, and she is set to come into a huge inheritance, and I am talking about old money. So outside of the fact that she has always been a spoiled brat, I have no idea what would make her do this.

Quote:OnlyFans is a content-sharing platform, based in London. Founded by Timothy Stokely, it is a website only with no official apps. Creators can use it to offer videos, photos, and even chances to chat one-on-one for a price. It is popular in the adult entertainment industry. The New York Times even ran a story in early 2019 that claimed OnlyFans had changed sex work forever, dubbing OnlyFans "the paywall of porn".

Why did OnlyFans try to ban porn? The UK-based company announced on 19 August 2021 it planned to ban the posting of any content containing sexually explicit conduct, citing a need to comply "banking partners and payout providers", according to a statement provided to the media. The statement elaborated: "In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines". Let's not forget that, because OnlyFans has hosted X-rated content, the service is available only on the web, not on mobile app platforms including iOS and Android.

Axios claimed OnlyFans has struggled to find outside investors because it allows creators to post explicit content. Perhaps app stores and potential investors were all unable to get past the porn issue? If so, it's no surprise then that OnlyFans thought it needed to "clean up" to secure funding.

Boredom, loneliness, starving for attention? I was aware of OnlyFans but never paid any attention to it. Watching a few minutes of the vid and it looks like a spin-off of the Chan boards, except to make big money. Back when Trump was in office there was a world-wide crack down on this filth by many of the intel agencies which involves human trafficking & money laundering.

This guy a documentary filmmaker John Canales (a.k.a. Mouthy Buddha), whose YouTube channel of 10+ million subscribers was removed by Google back in 2020 for spilling too much truth. He produced some high quality documentaries on some of this dark stuff and he's now on Bitchute & I think the Odysee platform.

You'll see the vids pertaining to this topic if you scroll his channel. Don't recall which vid but he discovered a hidden network within Youtube that spans to other sites in the exploitation of young girls & boys. Blew my mind and he demonstrated how he believes it works.

I see why he would run into trouble on YouTube.

There are a lot of people that put a censored version of their videos on YouTube, and an uncensored version on Bitchute or another platform.

YouTube actually becomes a form of advertising for their content. Banning them from YouTube is not going to be what kills uncensored information. The killer is going to be the pay to view system they are putting in place.

Netflix I think started the trend. But now there are so many information and entertainment outlets that charge for their content, including YouTube, that the average person will be forced to only watch what they can afford, or what has is being pumped by the system for free.

I can't afford any of it. I am not paying for any of it. Much of it I have access to through friends and family, and I am really surprised at how much they are willing to pay. Some of it is pure garbage, with maybe one or two offerings that are halfway decent. The truth of the matter is that the first budget cut I am going to make when the budget has to be tightened, is my satellite subscription. So all of that stuff is about to go right out the window anyway.

I am on the fence on this topic.

I believe in the ability of people to live their lives and make a living. If they want to do the OF route, so be it.

HOWEVER....

I feel deeply these actions will come back to haunt many of these young women. They are young and we've all been there. Young and dumb. Not making great decisions. These decisions are the internet forever. The girls can equivocate all day long on what line of work this is but it's still quid pro quo.

I am concerned about the young men who throw money at these girls. What world view is that building in them? Their view of women? The whole simp thing just irks me.

Now the category where I feel no concern. I feel no empathy. Quite the opposite. The predators. The POS's who work to take advantage of these young people. Play with fire and all that. Nobody is "asking for it" but if you play on the freeway don't be surprised when you get run over.

In the end, I do not have a position on the subject. Sort of all over the place.

Thank you. I too am having trouble with this one. I too am all over the place, because this is an issue that is all over the place, much like anything else that has to do with sex. Consenting adults of a sound adult mind, do not always show up in these situations.

I totally agree with what you state about predators, but the predators can be hard to spot in some of these situations. My friend's daughter, I feel, fits in a category very close to the predator status. That young boy that recognized her, did not look like he could be expected to ride a bus alone, and I am sure there are many others like him, being taken advantage of. The lecherous old men that fund her site, are getting what they pay for, I guess. Though this type of activity can be a gold mine for human traffickers, especially where young girls are concerned.

I have mixed feelings about how we handle this situation, because it is not going to stop the inhumane traffickers, they will just go deeper underground, making it much harder to fin.d them, and reduce the chances of helping the victims in a quicker time frame.

This is indeed a sticky wicket.
