Omicron seems to be going the way science - actual science, not tabloid, political, and social media "science" - says it should go.
The purpose of life is to live, and to procreate, scientifically speaking. Life holds the propagation of a species as it's purpose. Viruses, which require a host to survive, do not propagate in dead hosts, so according to evolutionary theory, mutations that do not kill the host confer an advantage to the virus's progeny, and therefore is more likely to be kept, and spread faster, crowding out the deadlier variants of any given virus until they go extinct.
In other words, over time a virus should get LESS deadly, according to evolutionary theory, which is science. Follow the science, eh?
Furthermore, mutations to a virus that allow it to spread faster and bypass vaccines also confers an advantage to the virus's progeny, and so is likely to be kept and propagate, again crowding out the variants that get blocked by vaccines. This is why they have new flu vaccines every year, to vaccinate against whichever variant looks to be most promising in bypassing last year's vaccine.
It's just science, y'all.
So one would expect the coof to, over time, become less deadly, and spread faster, killing off the deadlier variants. This is likely what we are seeing with Omicron.
Yet there are STILL people pissin' all over themselves and working hard to keep the fear porn rolling. One should ask himself WHY they are doing that, especially in the face of a more benign variant, and think deeply upon that question.
