What was your official roll/rank/duty in the Navy escort of the submariner?
I was a helicopter mechanic. AD3(AW) is the rank. Just means aviation machinist mate 3rd class air warfare qualified. Usually when the helicopter was flying to land they would take a mechanic with them just for any issues, if they needed to get fuel, things like that. Luckily the pilots on my detachment really trusted me and I almost always got to go.
