Prime Minister Boris Johnson -at the time of this writing (11.39.am Friday 17th July) was on terrestrial
television giving a speech regarding what he would want the UK to do in the current plague Passover.
The way it works is that a relevant political figure stands at a lectern and answers questions from chosen
Journalists displayed on a large screen and received through the use of the internet.
Listening to his ramble, I also had the BBC website page on my laptop -beside the PM's live announcement
via YouTube and the page only stated that Boris Johnson was speaking at the moment.
Then after refreshing the page, the BBC said "The PM added he was "hoping for the best and planning for the worst".
The problem was that Johnson -himself, only said this FOUR MINUTES AFTER the sentence appeared on the page!
Time-travel...?! John Titor is a Journalist?!
The actual 'Pre-Hoping For The Best' article was:
The reality is that Boris Johnson's comments are dispatched to the larger media on the evening before and due to the
usual agreed embargo, these outlets only load the politician's comments as they become past-tense.
Checkout the archived link.... I didn't archive it, it was already done and yet, that one is more padded-out with his
comments and only a few minutes older than the page I had originally brought up
Wow... Journalists can really type fast!! But no, not really.
In a dying environment of the current media networks, rivalry is obviously paramount and so, getting the news out
first may well guarantee better ratings. In this case, it shows you that it's not news, it's packaged narratives that are
held until an agreed time.
It's something Ms Zimdars knows well, but resists to write about, it's called Gate-keeping.
