They lie, and we have been conditioned to believe the lies. Oz is a fictitious construction of the mind, that only exists if you are willing to play by their rules, if you are willing to invest in someone else providing your needs, or fixing your problems. The world of peace they are selling is yours, if you are willing to throw others under the bus to "maybe" move ahead one space in the line, or if you choose the short cut through a field of poppies, designed to make you feel good about not caring and not doing anything.
They won't have to physically force anyone to do anything. All they have do is sell them an excuse they can use and make others believe. We know they lie to us, but we will never admit that we lie to ourselves.
For every one person that read this post. About 7.99 billion have not.
