Second Amendment Sanctuary Counties
#24
As of 6pm this evening, nearly 60 localities in Virginia have declared themselves "Second Amendment Sanctuaries", The Socialists have noticed, and are now pushing the narrative that these declarations are "purely symbolic". They seem not to comprehend that what they call "symbolic" can translate to several thousand very solid rounds downrange in an instant if they attempt to enforce their lunacy on the rest of us.

After all, the Declaration of Independence was "purely symbolic"... until the rubber met the road and shit got real.

While the battle rages for the Second Amendment, few are noticing other, equally worrying, signs that the Socialists intend to run roughshod over the rest of us. For example, proposed SB64, to be considered during the same legislative session, is worded such that if I were to teach my wife or child to physically defend themselves against a physical attack, I would be guilty of a felony, of "paramilitary activity". Too late, ya bastards - I already taught 'em, and will continue to do so despite your most misguided efforts. The right to self defense is a natural law in the purest sense - no sentient organism will fail to defend it's own life by any means necessary to overcome the threat. As a natural law, it's beyond the Socialist's ability to legislate out of existence.

They can all kiss my ass. I well and truly would rather die than live in their world where criminals can do as they please to any and all victims they may encounter with impunity.

My willingness to die (and I appear not to be alone in that) rather than submit to their boot on my neck may run head first into their "symbolism", and when cold hard SOLID reality runs into a mere symbol, I wonder which comes out the other side?

I told one that just the other day. I made it clear that it was not about guns, it was about dumbasses thinking it was ok to put their boot on my neck and take whatever they wanted of MY property. Oddly, I got no answer to that statement.

The parallels between this situation in Virginia and the gathering storm clouds just before the American Revolution are striking. Now, just as then, they are trying to criminalize anything at all that works in support of Liberty. And now, just as then, what Benjamin Franklin said of the situation is true - "We must all hang together, or we will surely all hang separately."

ETA: I've also used the past several days doing a "Red Team" analysis of how it is likely to go. After assessing everything they could possibly throw at us, up to and including the US Army (which I think would be unlikely, but possible), as opposed to everything we can throw back, I've concluded that they don't have a snowball's chance in hell IF we all stick together and don't wuss out. I expect the desertion rate from any military called in would be between 50 and 60 percent, many of whom, perhaps the majority, would defect to the very people they've sworn to protect, in defense of the Constitution they've sworn to defend against all enemies both foreign and domestic. Those defectors, together with the original civilians, would be a force to be reckoned with... and the US doesn't have the force to reckon with them, much less just the State of Virginia.

The Virginia State Police has a total force of about 2300 souls. Just about any ONE of the Sanctuary counties could muster at least that many guns, even if the VSP brought ALL of their personnel to any one place. That would of course leave the rest of the state wide open except for the local cops, many of whom have already sworn to stand with their people, and refuse to enforce illegal laws.

That means that VA would have to call in some bigger guns of the military sort (probably national Guard)... and then the defections begin. The problematic cities could be buttoned up fairly easily, with the most problematic being DC itself - that one would be better left alone, so as not to give the Feds an excuse to enter the fray, and keep the fight within Virginia.

While doing this assessment I found that I must be living amongst a troublesome folk. The State Police only have two tactical teams in the entire state, and BOTH of them are based west of the Blue Ridge, in these here mountains, amongst us troublesome folk. I've already had to deal with one of those teams once, and found them to be reasonable men, so I'm not overly worried about them.

Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
