Okay....let's chat....

These are just my views and I don't wish to offend.

Right and wrong... that age-old dilemma that we invented a God for!
Yeah, that was what I was aiming at. The inner-self that determines a higher moralistic path and
not some archaic 'holier-than-thou' disciplinarian

Quote:...Your opinions that there is an education problem makes sense. Fear of God? Dunno.

I certainly don't advocate any or all religions to be bound within an education system, but neither
do I suggest atheist-like teachings. To take faith in a deity should be a personal choice and not
in our schools.

My comment of a 'fear that punishment will ensue' was a poor description, I should have said that
a lean towards a realisation of what wrong or right could lead to, should be promoted more.

Freedom in a social setting requires a form of self-discipline. Not a set of rules handed down by a
strata of authority, but from elders within a family-unit that only have the best intentions for a loved-one.

Quote:...I would press on a profound I don't care attitude towards others.
I think our kids have become self centered (and grand-kids).

Consumerism does that, but youth has always been fickle to materialism. I believe it's part of development
and adulthood -certainly parenthood, brings a governor to being more self-centred to some extent.
(I hate those damned camera-phones... they're just mirrors!)

Quote:I know most of you remember the seventies, the eighties and when it started to shift, during the nineties..

The internet? Perhaps.

I agree. It seemed simpler when the world was smaller!

Quote:The video games? Perhaps.

I think there's merit there, regular access to violence/pornography/easily-quenched desire, can desensitise a
young mind to the negative aspects of these.

Quote:Both parents working? Probable.

Difficult call... To some parents, external factors constantly tell us wealth brings happiness and so to better the next
generation, the adults earn as much as they can. But if they are responsible parents, they can find time to prepare
their children for life.

In my own opinion from my country, we're four generations deep of a working-class environment where an average
household never had a male in full employment. This can have a drastic knock-on effect for their offspring and in
many cases does.

Quote:Funds missing in education? Probable.

Money is wasted on the trending ideas, not on education. I wasted my time at school and even without a penny to
my name, worked hard and retired early. I never had access to lesbian ballet-dancing or dealt with chronic anxiety.
I believe funding is wasted on snake-oil salesmen in our colleges and universities.
Thankfully, many of the young don't fall for it.

Quote:One thing is for sure, the world has changed.
THAT, we can all agree on as we've seen the difference.

It certainly has and I think in a manner unlike before. We can all recall our parents and grand-parents twisting their faces
at our choice in attire and music, but their real concern was that we would acquire the disciplines to work and raise a
family.

Now, technology tells the kids to f*ck robots, jerk off in front of their computers and resist the natural courtships of humans.
Universal interactions where valuable lessons are learnt in their development and again, assist in producing well-rounded
children.

Quote:Question - Is it too late?
I mean, can this be reversed?
Personally, I don't think so.
And you?

If life has taught me anything, it's that we can change anything. Humans have a great capacity to survive and thrive.
We're constantly hammered with rhetoric that indicates we should be led en-masse and not find our own ways as individuals,
this because those who seek to control are attempting to become 'The Parents' of all.

It can be reversed, hence the subconscious revolt going on right now. It can't be communicated properly, but every serious
adult knows it and it comes from within. It can happen overnight or take many years... the question is, will those who come
next be able to continue the race?

Thank you for your insightful questions, Sol and a I hope you a had a great Christmas too!
