As the crime-wave of London rolls on and the reporting of the incidents falls out of the trending mode,
the optimistic hours running up to a new year mean little in a city that has lost its way.

Cops arrest thirty-nine on suspicion of attempted murder after New Year's Eve stabbing

'A man in his 30s has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after the attack in Fulham Palace
Road, Hammersmith, west London, the Metropolitan Police said.



The man was left with life-threatening injuries after being chased by a group of men and women
following a fight which started in a shop. Cops were called to reports of a stabbing in the street just
before 1am today. 

The suspects were arrested at a property near the scene and taken into custody at several police stations.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: "A man, believed to be in his mid-30s, was found with stab injuries.
"He was treated at the scene by officers and paramedics before being taken to hospital where he remains in
a critical but stable condition.

"It was established that the victim had been chased by a number of male and female suspects following an
altercation in a shop. "The suspects were seen a short time later entering a nearby residential address which
was hosting a party.

"Additional officers, including the Territorial Support Group, attended this address and attempted to speak with
a large number of people who were inside. "As the occupants failed to co-operate with police, a total of 39 people
were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
"They have all been taken into custody at various police stations."

Part of Fulham Palace Road, heading south between Nella Road and Ellaine Road, is currently cordoned off. 
Met Police superintendent Mark Lawrence added: "What appears to have been a minor argument has resulted
in a man sustaining life-threatening injuries.
"He has been taken to hospital where he continues to receive treatment for his injuries.

"Whilst it is unusual for so many people to be arrested in the early stages of an investigation such as this, due to
a lack of co-operation and the necessity of securing essential evidence following a serious assault, this action
was appropriate."
Two knives were recovered close to the scene, a spokesman added.

It comes just hours after another a man was shot in broad daylight in Tottenham, north London yesterday. 
Days earlier, a gunman opened fire at a double decker bus in nearby Haringey, leaving the driver injured...'
