London, The Eager Twin Of San Francisco.
#26
It's the usual case... commuting on the London Underground late at night and realising you've left your favourite
reading-material back at the office. So what does a traveller do?

Quote:'Blood everywhere' Man knifed in front of passengers on London Underground train

Blood was splattered across a London Underground train after a man was brutally stabbed in front of passengers.

'Horrified passengers were stunned after the knifeman pulled out his blade and stabbed a fellow passenger as the
train was travelling along the Central Line somewhere between Stratford and Bethnal Green at about 12.30am on
Sunday.

According to wittnesses, an argument broke out on the carriage before the knifeman stabbed his fellow passenger
before running off the train.  Paramedics raced to the train when it next pulled in and treated the victim at the scene.
Officers then carried out searches in the area in a bid to find the thug.

Witness Rukshana shared photos of the scene, where the vitcim and a newspaper could be seen covered in blood.
She later told Daily Star Online: “Before the train got to Mile End people were screaming and jumping up from their
seats and then a man ran off the train.

“That’s when I saw this man stumbling and people told him he should get off the train but the doors closed on him
before he could and he stumbled on the floor onto the seat.  “A woman told me he’d been stabbed in the face by
someone sitting next to him. I was shocked as it happened so fast, that’s when I saw his jumper was bloodied and
pouring from his cheek.

She added: “Everyone rushed to help him and a woman held his face with tissue to stop the blood and when the train
stopped at Bethnal he was carefully taken out.”

The British Transport Police released an image of a man it wishes to speak to in connection with the attack.
A spokesman said: "Detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they believe has information that could
help their investigation. Likewise, officers would be keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the attack.

Knife crime in the capital has surged this year, with the majority believed to be gang related.
There were 1,299 stabbings where a knife or bladed weapon was used between January and April, according to
official statistics from the Metropolitan Police.

Last month, stabbings were reported nearly every day, leading to greater calls for action to be taken by London
Mayor, Sadiq Khan...'

Isn't it sad that The British Transport Police don't have the access to the CCTV facilities that the Antique shop
in Salisbury has? The two Russian suspects could be easily seen as they browsed the store window.
But sadly, the capital's transport surveillance involves equipment from the eighties.
