Quote:Several dead, around 30 estimated injured after vehicle plows into crowd in Germany.

'A vehicle has rammed into a crowd of people in the western German city of Muenster.
Several people have been killed in the incident, according to police.

Authorities have not provided any specific numbers, merely confirming the fatalities.
Yet, according to the Rheinische Post, citing a police source, the number of those dead now stands
at three. Around 30 people are estimated to be injured.

The incident took place in the center of Muenster. Police have cordoned off the area and asked people
to avoid it. The nature of the incident remains “unclear,” police said in a Twitter post urging everyone
to “avoid speculation.”

Photos from the scene appear to show a grey minivan, seen among scattered chairs and tables in a
narrow street. The café in question, called the Kiepenkerl, is popular among locals and tourists.
It is located in the historical part of the city.

The street where the incident took place is also located in the vicinity of several major shopping centres.

The driver of the vehicle has taken his own life, German police confirmed to the country’s DPA news agency.
Authorities say that currently they are not looking for any further suspects, and that the danger is likely to
be over.

The incident might have been a terrorist attack, the German Rheinische Post said, citing police sources.
However, no official confirmation has been issued...'
RT News:

The driver iis believed to have shot himself -probably in guilt and grief. tinysurprised

And the van may have a bomb inside. Of course, the vehicle's window was wound up, the crowd may not
have heard what might have been shouted.

MSM will probably do a 'Two Dead In Munster, Nazi-Killer Van'

The BBC reported:

Quote:"...The suspect's motive and exact identity still remains unclear, but German media
reported he was a national with mental health problems...'
SOURCE:

Which is now the standard comment from MSM.

I can understand within all the confusion how those as cynical as myself may have initially doubted
the Authorities' first claims, it's not the first time they've waved the notion of terrorism away immediately
after one of these incidents.

It's just that the fake news some media outlets like the BBC can get it wrong at times too.
Like this:
BBC -Saturday:

Quote:'...The suspect's motive and exact identity still remains unclear, but German media reported
he was a national with mental health problems...'
BBC News:

And then Sky News -Sunday:

Quote:'...German state minister Herbert Reuel said police were investigating all possibilities.
"We have to wait, and we are investigating in all directions," he said.

He did not confirm nor deny media reports that the suspect had a history of mental illness...'
SKY News:

Both alleged 'real' news outlets and each with a different report in regards of the killer's mind-state.
However, both mediums state the tragedy wasn't terrorist-related.

I just find it odd that an unhinged person can access a gun, rent a van and drive it into a crowd of
people '...in Munster's main square on Saturday, as the city experienced an unusual flux of visitors
due to high temperatures.'

Did this crazy fellow appreciate the warm weather and realise that crowds of people would be accessible
in an pedestrian-only area and deduce it would be an ideal time to run-down his fellow Germans?

Understanding that any escape route would be blocked by the confines of the main square and the usual
heavy Police presence, did he come to the conclusion that suicide was the only way out?

Quote:After all, The US Library of Congress defines the German gun control system as “one of the most stringent
in Europe”...'

'...Germans do not have fundamental rights to bear arms, unlike Americans do under the Second Amendment,
and the country’s violent past including the Nazi era has certainly helped to shape the current strict regulations.
To get a gun, Germans must first obtain a firearms ownership license (Waffenbesitzkarte) -and you may need
a different one for each weapon you buy -or a license to carry (Waffenschein).

Applicants for a license must be at least 18 years old and undergo what’s called a reliability check, which includes
checking for criminal records, whether the person is an alcohol or drug addict, whether they have mental illness
or any other attributes that might make them questionable to authorities...'

'...The also have to pass a “specialized knowledge test” on guns and people younger than 25
applying for their first license must go through a psychiatric evaluation.
One must also prove a specific and approved need for the weapon, which is mainly limited to
use by hunters, competitive marksmen, collectors and security workers - not for self-defence.

Once you have a license, you’re also limited in the number of and kinds of guns you may own,
depending on what kind of license you have: Fully automatic weapons are banned for all,
while semiautomatic firearms are banned for anything other than hunting or competitive shooting.
Under the reforms passed in the wake of a 2009 mass shooting, gun owners are also subject
to continued monitoring by the government with officials able to ask gun owners at any time to
enter their private property and check that they are properly storing their weapons....'
-SOURCE and yet this guy with mental problems could get one.

Maybe I'm reading too far into it, but it does seem very strange.
