'Former butler to the Queen, Andrew Lightwood, 57, has been jailed for sexually abusing a young child after he
was found to have exposed himself to a young boy before inappropriately touching him.
In a victim personal statement, Cardiff Crown Court head the boy describe how Lightwood exposed “his privates”.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons said the incident, which happened in the Bridgend area on February 4,
lasted for more than eight minutes until he told Lightwood he needed to go to the bathroom and managed to get away.
Sentencing him at Cardiff Crown Court, Judge Niclas Parry said: “To the outside world, you were an upstanding moral
person, but that hid a dark reality.”
In a victim person statement, the boy’s mother said he has been unable to sleep and gets “angry and frustrated”.
She said: “What Lightwood did to him will stay with him for the rest of his life.”
The mother said her son has received counselling but he is now “very insecure.” She heartbreakingly said: “I want my
old son back.”
The young boy’s son also gave a statement and claimed he had been “subdued” since the incident, which is completely
out of character. Lightwood admitted engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and assaulting the boy.
Andrew Evans, defending, stressed the fact his client had no previous convictions or cautions and claimed: “He understands
the impact of his behaviour on his victim.”
In his closing remarks, Judge Parry said: “You abused him for your own sexual gratification.” Lightwood was jailed for 28 months.
Judge Parry also imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order for which he will have to register as a sex offender for that
time period.
Lightwoods LinkedIn account shows he was a butler in the Royal Household at Buckingham Palace from 1978 to 1984.
