Just another casualty of a proxy war fought in the desert. No sympathy here...and not because he's Russian, but because Syria isn't anybody's business but Syria's.
Blame the US all you want, when the lines were drawn after both world wars that was just a continuation of a f'd up Middle East policy going back centuries. If you want to blame the US, fine. But start further down (Alexander the Great maybe?) so you can get to the root of the issue. Blaming the US is intellectually lazy at best.
