helped hide her body to cover up the alleged crime in the resort of Praia da Luz on May 3 nearly
10 years ago.
The former police chief did not say who he thought had killed Madeleine McCann.
A massive search lasting almost a decade has ensued after her parents, Gerry and Kate McCann,
found their daughter missing from their holiday apartment after leaving her and their younger twins
asleep as they dined in a nearby restaurant with friends.
Teasers for today’s Sunday Night show on the Seven Network claimed “new evidence” had been
found to uncover a “sensational new twist” in the tragic story of missing Maddie.
The McCanns are said to be upset by the MI5 claims, with Mr McCann telling the show: “The less
said about Goncala Amaral the better.”

In the new documentary the presenters revealed a new key witness, who worked at the resort,
is being hunted. A senior professor in the documentary also claimed Maddie could have been
knocked down by a drink-driver after leaving the flat to search for her parents.
He said the driver could have thrown her body into one of the 600 wells in the area, or disposed
of it in mountain case near the town. The McCanns spokesman said earlier this week the show’s
producers should hand over any “credible” evidence to police.
He said: “If the Australian TV show contains any credible, fresh lines of inquiry they should, of
course, have been given immediately to the police.” Mr Amaral published a book about Maddie
in 2008 in which he claimed she died in the holiday apartment and her parents faked her abduction
to cover up the tragedy...'
