“Yes California,” a pro-secession group, filed paperwork with the state attorney general in November for a proposed 2018 ballot measure to strike language in the state constitution binding California to the United States.

This month, the group announced the opening of a “cultural center” in Moscow — “the first of many planned California culture centers which will serve to build a bridge between the nation of California and the nations of the world,” read a statement on Yes California’s website.


If its ballot measure succeeds, Yes California would pursue a 2019 vote to declare the state’s independence. At least half of the state’s voters would have to cast ballots and 55 percent would have to choose independence for California to become its own nation, according to document Yes California filed with the Attorney General’s office.
Talk of California secession is nothing new. But it gained momentum after Donald Trump’s election. Hillary Clinton got 62 percent of California’s vote in defeating Trump, the largest margin of victory for a presidential candidate in the state since 1936.

In arguing for independence, Yes California contends that the state’s tax dollars subsidize the rest of America and that red-state politics marginalize California’s more progressive values. California can stand alone as a world economic power, secession advocates say.

“We believe in two fundamental truths,” reads a statement on Yes California’s website. “(1) California exerts a positive influence on the rest of the world, and (2) California could do more good as an independent country than it is able to do as a just a U.S. state.”

 They're so Hung-Up on Themselves, they forget there are Other States in the Union, Not Just California!

Funny how they think that their tax dollars subsidize the rest of the country but so many of their cities are going bankrupt and their state isn't far behind. Other than the Naval Base in San Diego, Fort Irwin near Barstow, and the Marine Air Station in Miramar, are there any military installations worth worrying about in California? 

I didn't think so. It would be funny to watch what happens when (with their burgeoning urban populations) they realize that their fight to protect the Delta Smelt leaves them without the food needed to feed their own people.
I will be more than happy to man the border between the two to keep the residents of Granola (ex-Californians) from invading Arizona. 

It's Simple, Without a free trade agreement with the US, Granola would find itself with little to no wheat (I guess they intend for the entire country of Granola to go gluten free) or other grains for that matter. 
Then there's the issue of electricity. Granola gets a lot of its electricity from Hoover Dam. Becoming its own country would negate the contract wherein they get that power, so they would have to renegotiate with the other states that control the dam and hope that Arizona and Nevada don't decide to raise the rates (A LOT) that the foreign country of Granola has to pay for electricity. 
Please Granola, secede from the Union. 
I would love to see your wonderfully diverse (and significantly illegal alien) population burn some of your cities to the ground and turn them into third world cesspools because of your idiot policies. 
I would vote against ANYONE that tried to send you any form of aid. 
Of course without a formal treaty, you wouldn't be eligible for any anyway. You wouldn't be able to call in the National Guard to quash any riots because you wouldn't have any. 

They would be disbanded when the state secedes and all of their US owned equipment would have to be turned in to the US military bases mentioned above or to ones in Arizona or Nevada. 
By The Way, when the Chinese or Mexicans decide to invade (like the Mexicans haven't already), without you having a mutual defense treaty with the US, you'd be on your own. Good luck with that since most of the people who like and own firearms will have already moved out of the state.
