All the talk of "one world" is just so much crap. Before anything like that can begin to occur, every society in the world will have to come to agreement on very basic ideas ... like "what is the worth of human life?" We (humanity) aren't anywhere close to having something like a common worldview, and that is what will be needed to achieve any real planetary unification.

yeah, I'm a boomer, too. There were about 3 billion people on this planet when I climbed out of the womb, and we are creeping up on 8 billion now. It's not sustainable - not because we don't have enough land, we do - but it's a matter of resources. That, I believe, is the cause of all the recent mass migrations. People are invading the territories of others in their quest for more resources, and the US and Europe are perceived as having more resources, so here thy come.
One of the Four Horsemen - War, Famine, Pestilence, or Plague - are usually the culling agents, but I think we may have reached a point that all four will be required to get things back under control.
