Juneteenth
#9
When Mr, Carlson asked "what kind of society produces people like this?" and followed up on that thought with "where have we as a society gone wrong?", he appeared to be failing to grasp the fact that we are a multiplicity of societies rather than just a single society.

American society at large can grasp the wrongness of this action, but certain inner city societies cannot. They are not programmed for it. They cannot understand the wrongness because they have never been taught it.

They live in a separate, segregated society with that segregation enforced by Marxist rule, not the same society as everyone else.

Some have, apparently, never been taught history or law, either. I saw a sitting US senator the other night claiming that Juneteenth was the celebration of Texas slaves being told they were free, after having been kept in slavery for "two and a half years beyond the time the slaves were freed" because they were not told they were free, by which he could only be referring to the Emancipation Proclamation of January, 1863. That tells me that he has never READ the Emancipation Proclamation, nor does he have a grasp of law. I dunno how he got into the senate to begin with, considering his glaring lack if knowledge.

The Emancipation Proclamation did not free a single slave. Not one. Internal to the document, there are exceptions, an entire list of areas, carved out such that slaves in Yankee controlled territory were not affected. Not freed at all. And the slaves that it did attempt to free were all resident of a foreign nation, the CSA, in areas NOT under US Federal control or jurisdiction. So it was a sitting US president presuming to make law for a foreign country. It would be the same as if Biden passed a proclamation declaring possession of garnets to be illegal in Mexico. No effect, because Mexico is not under his legal jurisdiction according to international law.

So, while Juneteenth IS a celebration of the slaves being freed at the end of the Civil War as the US asserted control over occupied territories, those slave were NOT free before that time, much less two and a half years earlier. They need to get it right so that they understand what it is they are celebrating, especially if they aspire to Congress.

History is set. It does not morph simply to match YOUR individual understanding of it. That only happens in history books rewritten by the victors as they slowly, one by one, destroy the icons commemorating the actual history that really happened and erase actual events from the previous history books.

"Twerking" is not optional in such happenings.

.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
