My one Canadian story is about a seminar I attended a few years ago in Ohio.
Part of our small group was a trio of Canadians from Quebec.
Immediately they started speaking french in front of the rest of the group.
I immediately smiled, offered my hand and in passible french said, "Je m'appelle Mike!"
Eye brows raised, one asked, "Est ce que tu parles francais?"
I humbly replied, "Comme ci, comme ca."
(Which depleted about all the french I remembered.)
They were kind enough to speak english for the remainder of the week.
