UK WWII Memorial Vandalism.
#1
We're not fully there yet with this article and the repercussions will probably be suppressed.
Traditionally, anything to do with patriotism and the ultimate sacrifice for one's country is held in such high regard
that anyone defiling the memories of the Second World War is dragged over the coals in the media.

It's a no-no that dwindles ratings, but if it rubs-up against a preferred narrative, the word-play has to be on its
best game to make sure the reader/viewer doesn't take one side and berate the other.

Quote:Vandals splatter paint on WW2 memorials and Churchill statue as RAF pilot, 97, leads fury.

Vandals have splattered white paint over WW2 memorials across London in an overnight spree of destruction,
it was revealed today.

Vandals have thrown paint all over the Bomber Command Memorial in central London & the vandalised figures of
Franklin D Roosevelt and Winston Churchill on the Allies sculpture in New Bond.

'The memorials hit in the attack -believed to be politically motivated -included one to British airmen, a Royal Marines
tribute, and a statue of Churchill. The criminals also targeted wreaths left for RAF veteran Stanley Forsyth, who died
recently aged 98.
The tributes were lashed with paint in a “senseless” and “insulting” defacing.

It is the fourth time The Bomber Command Memorial in Green Park has been vandalised in just six years, after being
opened in 2012 by the Queen. The bronze sculpture was built in honour of the 55,573 airmen in Bomber Command
who gave their lives in the war.

War veteran Vernon Morgan, who flew Lancaster bombers in the Second World War, denounced the vandalism.
The 97-year-old told MailOnline: “It's a disgrace. “One wonders what motivates such things, when all they did was their
duty helping this country in a war.

“The monument is recognition of 55,000 people who lost their lives to help defeat the Nazis.
”The former pilot believed the vandalism could be politically motivated -pointing to the 1945 Bombing of Dresden as a
possible reason.

He added: “Some of these people have been taken with the supposedly dastardly things they (the pilots) did to Dresden
and think that they are criminals, but these men gave their lives so that this country could be free.”
An estimated 25,000 civilians were incinerated in the fire bombing which destroyed 2.5 square miles of the city.

However, the Nazi government initially told German media to publish a casualty figure of 200,000.
Before the memorial was built six years ago, the then-mayor of Dresden flew to London in a futile bid to get the project
scrapped. But works for the £7million memorial went ahead, despite the opposition.
Lt Col Paul Smyth showed the extent of the latest damage in a tweet with the caption: “Utterly tragic. #lestweforget”.

Angry followers expressed outrage and disbelief at the vandalism.
Macer Gifford tweeted: “You have to be a special kind of a*** hole to do something like that. I hope they're caught….”
Andrew Newson wrote: “I find it hard to express the anger and sadness in equal measures of such desecration.
“I know a significant part of society would be happy to see the perpetrators publicly flogged to with in an inch of their life.
“Part of me would love to see them sat with a vet and hear their story.”

Cops said they are working to locate the perpetrator and no arrests have been made at this time.
A Met spokesman said: “Police in Westminster are investigating reports of criminal damage to two statues.
“Police received a report of criminal damage to the Winston Churchill statue at New Bond Street at 07.54am on Monday.
“At 08.28am that same day, damage to the Bomber Command memorial in Green Park, Piccadilly was reported.
“In both cases white paint had been splashed on the statues. “Officers from Westminster investigate -there have been no
arrests.”...'

Of course, if your great-grandparents weren't involved in the war of Europe, the statues would mean nothing.
And there is that thin line the MSM may have to walk.
