It's probably not a true story.. but it is the leftist view of life. That whole.. people aren't mean or evil they just don't have the same advantages in life as we do, thought process they think we should all have in place of common sense.
It's much like the whole.. oh it's okay that Christians are killed, persecuted, and second class citizens in Muslim nations.. so we ought to just bring Muslims into our nations so they don't have to go through the hardship of waiting for us to come to them to be killed. Makes their life so much easier you know and we shouldn't make them go through very much hardship in their quest for world domination.. we should be more.supportive, after all, they had a hard life.
Really, logic has nothing at all to do with leftist theology..
