Yeah, it does look like an earpiece but the wire going up her back looks very thick (maybe she is actually a cyborg :P )
Seriously, though -
The bulge at the bottom of her back seems to be one of those transmitter/receivers that you clip onto a belt, as newreaders usually have - I have some here in fact.
She is definitely wired for sound, imho.
