Just got home. As soon as I stepped out the car it started to pour rain. I made it to the house just a little wet, but not drenched.

Sleep well. Sleep is sooooo important. I have insomnia, so i know.

And yes, moon can cause some crazy shit. Like full moon. I don't know if there is any science to back it up. But if moon causes the tides and humans are about 60% water, then the moon must have an impact.

Back from the polls - I did my part to strike a blow against that insidious democracy by using it against itself and voting. Bet they never saw that coming when they set up this silly system to allow folks to have a say in who wrecks their nation!

Grace was 3rd to the poll, and I was 4th. Vote early, and vote often!

We had to run the gauntlet, and tell all the electioneers that we lived out in the county, so their town candidates weren't even on our ballot. We had ONE race to vote on, but that was enough, I reckon. I researched the "other" candidate, and determined she is a flaming communist. I never thought I'd see the day that a communist ran against a human for office here, but there it is. She talked an awful lot about ushering in a "just transition" to our little patch of paradise, but never got around to mentioning what she wanted us to "transition" TO. I figure that if they can't plainly tell you where they want to head, if they feel a need to obscure that destination, then they must figure it's someplace none of us want to go, and that can't be a good thing...

So I voted against her about as much as I voted FOR the other guy. Sometimes, it's as important to hear what someone ISN'T saying as it is to hear what they ARE saying.

We finally made it to the polls but I thought I was going to have to drag Kdog rolled up in his blankets after he was up nearly all night and it wasn't so easy getting myself up either! I tried to see the eclipse early this morning but per usual around here the previously crystal clear sky suddenly and completely clouded up just in time to prevent me from viewing.

Anyhow made it to vote before the "get off work early to go vote" crowd started trickling in. It wasn't crowded but there was a steady stream of voters, about usual for midterm elections- kind of disappointing. Was really hoping to see evidence of a huge red wave this cycle to counter what we've been dealing with the last few years.  As a centrist all of this loony leftist shit has had me wound up tighter than a two dollar watch and I need some balance!

Feels refreshing to see a centrist. Everyone seems to be so strictly left or right. I do not mean all the way to communism or fascism, but still, heavy leanings.

I hope that you and Kdog will be pleased with the election results when they finish counting the votes, dunno when that is, actually.

Fin I honestly believe that most people hover somewhere close to the middle and the only reason we think there are so many extremists is because they are the ones screaming the loudest and being shoved to the front on every media platform available. I don't even watch the "news" anymore- it's all lies and propaganda.

I hope you are right. I think you might be right.

I don't watch TV at all but i browse online news sites a lot. It is, as you mentioned "all lies and propaganda". And also sickness and war and crisis and despair. And it has a negative impact on my mental health. Some kind of a twisted addiction just makes me browse news.

This gal isn't even a local to this state - she's a carpet-bagger from Oklahoma, thinking she has some kinda clue how life ought to go around here so that she can finally bring us "civilizxation".

What's even worse, she claims to be a Comanche, but said her mother named her in their "native Caddo language" (direct quote). Comanches speak Comanche, an Aztec-Uto languiage, not Caddo, which is a Southeastern language. I don't much trust "Indians" who don't even know what their native language is, either. Caddos speak Caddo, not Comanches. I have strong suspicions as to her actual ancestry and "tribe", but will keep those to myself. There is only one group of people I know of who claim to be Caddoan Indians, but who are not, nor ever had a drop of Caddoan blood run through their veins. I suspect that is the "tribe" she really hails from.

She is altogether an Outlander to these parts, and to make matters worse she is trying to mask just what kind of Outlander she is, and that can't be a good sign taken together with the fact that she is also trying to mask her agenda, in order to implement it after it's too late and she slicked her way into office.

Not gonna happen. Last I checked, she's taking a shellacking. Us Hillbillies just LOOK dumb. We'll fool ya when it comes to thinking things through.

I'm so far to the right that even "Fascists" are Left-wingers from where I stand. Both Communists and Fascists are collectivist totalitarians, and I'm not about that collectivist totalitarian life at all.

I have taken a few of those online test and I have come to the conclusion that I am just a stubborn 2 year old that never grew up. An old fart with a severe case of Peter Pan syndrome.

Every one of those test has me sitting right dab in the middle. I think the tests are faulty. I don't think right or left. I think right or wrong. So when they ask a bunch of questions that they think will identify a political way of thinking, the numbers become skewed.

I am not a Republican. I am not a Democrat. I am not swayed by party loyalty, or affected by the manipulations of the media, talking heads, or "influencers".

Those tests makes it look like I am half and half, making the marker look like I sit dead center.

The truth is that the questions are rigged. If a test is designed to look for gold, anything that is metal will show up in the middle, all non metals will show up on the extreme opposites. Since rarely in nature will you ever find pure gold, all gold will fall on a spectrum.

Refined, pure, gold comes with a lot of manipulation and extraction.

Refined and extracted, I am not.  minusculebiggrin

My approach is always from the perspective of Freedom. Is it Freedom or Non-Freedom in its intent?

There is no left/right dichotomy. I favor the government when it's split down the middle and they can't pass anymore laws that strip away our freedumbs. Left/Right belongs to politicians. Don't follow them and you won't ever get confused (not saying anyone on these boards would ever be confused by 'divide and conquer' ideologies).

Did you see what was on the ballot in Oregon?  How they tied Gun Control into the vote?  What did they say? They said it'll take away the means to commit suicide (as 85% of shootings in the state are suicides). Tells me only 15% of guns in that state are a potential problem. I'd imagine police shootings make up a decent part of the remaining 15% too, but ya never know.

I don't think anyone should have to enlist the aid of a Dr. Kevorkian (met him in an airport post-conviction) to get the deed done. No Doc 'should' want to be a part of that. I think if people are dead set on punching out, they should have the means of a firearm available to themselves. They just need to know putting a gun under their chin might end-up in a dreadful and unexpected result.

I didn't bother voting. Most likely won't ever waste my time with that again. Too obvious elections are no longer won/lost by the results of voting.

I don't trust the system but I will continue to vote. I will not fall into that trap. Voting in like life insurance. They are betting on you to live. At least long enough that they will collect twice the amount of money than they may distribute to your family, while you are betting on dying before that happens.

The life insurance company is more likely to win, but just in case they don't, you can die saying you did the right thing.

LMAO ... I gave up paying for a life insurance policy shortly after I left the military (for exactly the reasons you named above). Prices are too damned high if you're not part of a group I guess. I also realized I'm going to be able to leave more than they need for the remainder of their lives (if they can figure out how to turn it into cash). No damned taxes on that stash either.

Death may be certain. Taxes? Not so much, if you put your mind to it.

The governments are not there for the citizens. The governments are there for themselves. They get high on power and control, and laugh on their way to the bank, and spit on the average Joe and Jane while at it.

For more than a decade now, i have been calling for setting up a network to overthrow all governments worldwide. And build a fair new world order, based on human rights, freedom, respect, and justice. Then people reply "That is nice. Gotta go, Temptation island is on TV. Bye!" tinyok

(11-09-2022, 02:20 PM)Snarl Wrote: My approach is always from the perspective of Freedom. Is it Freedom or Non-Freedom in its intent?

That has always been my approach as well, which is what puts me on the "far right" in the current political spectrum. All my life, it has always been the socialists and communists placed on the left of the spectrum, and they invariably devolve into totalitarianism, always have and always will, so whatever distance I can place between myself and them puts me that much closer to the "freedom" end of that spectrum.

Someone, somewhere, seems th have a vested interest in muddying those waters these days, however. Even to the point of changing the "official" colors of the sides to further confuse things. When I was younger, conservatives were represented by blue, because that is opposite of red and the communists on the left had already claimed red. Then, suddenly in 2000, someone swapped the colors on us, so that Republicans are now represented by communist colors, and leftists have misappropriated the blue for themselves. Confusion reigns, especially for the old folks that recall the original color scheme.

I hear in the wind that a large portion of the dismal results of this election has been attributed to "the youth vote", with voter turn out among young folks setting records in multiples of hundreds of percents from previous. Fine by me - they get the world they vote to get, and if that's what they think they want, it's their world to form. It won't be long before I check out of it anyhow, and then they are on their own to enjoy what they thought they wanted. I can't, for the life of me, figure out what they have against freedom, financial stability, or quality of life, but if they want to vote against those things - and apparently they do - then they get what they beg for. They get the world they create, and I don't have to worry about it for many more years.

It's at this point where I detest "democracy", however. There is no reason that 51% of a nation should be able to coffle the other 49% and drag them down the same road to hell that the "majority" wants to travel. Back when we were a Republic, there were safeguards in place to protect that minority from the tyranny of the majority, but those safeguards are, for the most part, gone with only lip-service being paid to them on "patriotic" holidays.

So now my task, in my final years, is to teach my kids and grandkids how to survive in a world where the only freedom left is in the underground and underground economy. I don't care to overthrow any more governments, because that is a fool's game that only results in the dissatisfied left wingers waging war to get their security blanket back. Instead, i think that ignoring the governments and going your own way is the path to freedoms now. Just work outside the framework that has been set for the leftists to console themselves with over the loss of their freedom, finances, and quality of life. Things are not going to get better with so many citizens willing to trade their freedom for an illusion of security under a dystopian oligarchy, so the next best thing is to gear up to operate outside the coming system, rather than fight against it.

Fighting will only result in a perpetual war until there is only one man left standing on the planet.
