The Numbered Blueberry

The Numbered Blueberry

Firstly, I'd like to apologise - for I have absolutely no idea whether this thread is located in the correct category or not.

It could be filed under High Strangeness, Health Matters, Food & Nutrition, Aliens & UFO's??? Who knows?

The subject of this particular thread, as the title suggests, is: A Numbered Blueberry.
That is... a Blueberry with a number or code marked on it.

Innocuous? Trivial? Easily Explainable?

Well, possibly.... but probably Not!

This subject matter first appeared to me as a sub-topic within a youtube video by a creator called MrMBB333.
It was part of a series of "Hard to Believe But TRUE" type videos that he'd uploaded. (*Screenshot below.)

The Blueberry segment of the video was titled "MUTANT BLUEBERRY" and crops up about 9:55 into the video, which I will provide a link for below:

The original (true) tale of the mutant blueberry occurred in Newfoundland in 2007, when a guy called Tim was trying out his new Digital Camera, taking close-up photos of blueberries. It was only later, when looking over the images that he'd captured that day, that he noticed one particular blueberry which has a number or code marked on its surface!

The uploader of the video seems to have concluded that the number/code is UID10H4 - as seen in the screen grab above - but I am not entirely convinced of the accuracy of that conclusion and I believe that there are other possible interpretations that could be equally valid.

So, HOW does a number or code get onto a Blueberry in the first place???
Genetic Modification??? ALIENS???

Well, I've done a little research myself, and apparently although rare, it can and does happen...

In Aug'17 a customer of Sainsbury's supermarket in the UK found numbers on his blueberries:

And in Apr'22 a fellow Brit found numbers and letters on his shop bought Blueberries too:

After a little bit of investigation, an answer was apparently found!

When the blueberries are packed into those clear plastic "punnets", the packs are often coded so that the product is traceable back to source, and the code is "etched" into the plastic using a special CO2 etching process.
The punnets have holes in them, which allows the natural fruit/berries to breathe, so occasionally... the etching process marks the fruit (through the holes in the punnet) as well as the punnet itself!
Fortunately, the process is so delicate that it can mark, but not damage the surface of the fruit, as seen in the images above!

So, Mystery SOLVED!!??!!

BUT....

In the first example of numbered Blueberries (that I gave at the start of this thread)....

The Blueberries were STILL ATTACHED TO THE BUSH in the wild and had NOT been subjected to ANY processing or packaging!

What Say YOU, fellow Rogues??

What does the code signify? How did it get onto a wild Blueberry? Who or What is responsible? What implications does this have for our Health & Wellbeing? Is it linked to GMO? Aliens???

Over to YOU!

(*PS - Here are some close-ups of the number/code in question - first as displayed in the video above, and then rotated & flipped to see if any other possibilities or arrangements of the code become apparent.)

Thanks! I was looking at that number a couple different ways also.

I have watched MrMBB333 for a many years. I love his videos about the mutant plants.

I have puzzled over the blueberry imprinted while still on the branch, still running that one through the old brain.

The shaking leaves I am still puzzled by too. I live in the woods, and have run across that phenomena before, a time or two. Once it was a whole branch, not just a leaf.

I think, all and all, there will always be something we just don't know.

For every one person that read this post. About 7.99 billion have not.

Yet I still post.  tinyinlove

I am gonna guess that this is a prank. Regarding the code in the wild blueberries there.

Some people have a lot of time, also a lot of creativity. That is when weird stuff happens.

I see, "UID10W4". It is almost like the "Unique Id" number for computer chips, except that UID is 6 digits.

I'd say that "UID" stands for "Unique Identity" or "Unique Identifier" and is like an SKU number (Stock Keeping Unit), a unique number used personally by a company, unlike the Universal Product Code that has standard code meanings.

If this was genetically encoded into the crop, then every berry should have this code on it someplace, or it would have some invisible genetic markers that identify it as the UID10W4 product.

ETA: Strangely enough, when I searched "UID10H4" on DDG, the first page was from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency about grading blueberries . . .

LINK

That code wasn't on the page, however, the search brought up for the second result a face book posting of this same story.

Quote:This was taken in an area called Clarke's Pond, just outside of Bonavista, Newfoundland, Canada exactly 15 years ago when I just started getting into photography, and with my very first digital camera that came as a package, with a macro lens set up and I was trying it out for extreme close-ups of blueberries.

This area is filled with blueberries planted by the government in the early 1970s, right at about the same time that the US naval base shut down, which was about 2 or a little over 3 km as the crow flies away from this area. The area where the old US naval base was, is quite strange in itself, as they buried pretty much everything under petrified, 500 million-year-old rock. PS. If you've never seen petrified rock, you are really missing something. It's pretty cool. But why did they bury everything under what is probably hundreds of thousands of tons of petrified rock?
This is interesting to know, because what also happened in the 1970s is that the US government was experimenting with planting wild blueberry bushes in areas of high radiation, to absorb the radiation.

And "UID" is part of the coding sequence for the US Department of Defense cataloging numbers. It actually stands for "universal identification" number.
But what does the 10H4 stand for? Well, that is actually a tumor suppression protein that, if you're ready for this, is naturally found in blueberries.

I grow my own blueberries. I haven't noticed any sort of code on any of them but I guess I will keep a sharper eye on them now... just in case!  tinywhat

I saw that reference to that mouse monoclonal antibody as well at another source article, however, I thought it may not relate based on the other information I found. That doesn't mean this isn't part of the conspiracy theory that these blueberries are genetically modified.

If these blueberries are part of a commercial harvest, then that would lead me deeper down this rabbit hole, but it seems to have been planted in a brown zone that could possibly have radioactive material buried in the area. Getting some readings on the level of radioactivity in the plants and in the area could provide more weight to the original story without the connection to a specific mouse monoclonal antibody. Still, my conspiracy senses are tingling.

Yeah. Sometimes coincidences bear a little closer look.

Okay i gotta confess. I made all these codes to blueberries.

I can't hold this burden any longer. It was me!
