I am seeing more and more dopamine triggering videos turning up on YouTube.

The only places I go regularly online is YouTube, because I am trying to support a family member with their channel, and here. I never saw the appeal of TikTok or any of the social media sites. I gave up Facebook when the kids grew up.

Now it appears that TikTok is just the tip of the iceberg, and almost all the internet is being weaponized.

Tiktok is a psychological weapon and is one of the evilest businesses in modern history. TikTok is trash because Tiktok makes money from your misery. Tiktok is garbage because it is funding China's 2049 plan. CCP's Bytedance is making billions of dollars from AI technology that is ruining society. Tiktok makes money by destroying society and culture. Tiktokers are making millions of dollars and making lots of money from selling out to the business of China's Bytedance which is why Tiktok is bad and Tiktok is trash.

There is an episode on the most recent season of the television show "Evil" that involves a TikTok- like app and people supposedly becoming possessed by it. The reference to TikTok was so thinly veiled it was hilarious. I don't use TikTok because from all I have read they are the most "demonic" of apps when it comes to selling off all of your personal info and such. Also I believe it is probably one of the most addictive apps going right now and since I'm trying to spend less time on social media I avoid it like the plague.

We are so on the same page.

I wish I could dump my phone even, but my job requires that I have it with me at all times, because even when I am not on call, there is a strong probability that they may need me for back-up. So I keep it with me, and cringe every time it rings. Praying it is not the job calling for back-up.

I only come here and to YouTube, but, I plan to go back to my audio books and cut back my internet footprint even further. Trying to fill 16 hours of duty time is why I spend more time online then is good for me. Cloud and Audible to the rescue.

I'm with you on that. Deleted my FB acct about 10 years. Youtube has a galactic size cesspool of vids. I stick to a few dozen channel favs. Try logging out and click to see what's trending. All crap. Targeted at kids.

Same here, never seen the appeal with TikTok though I can understand why kids are so addicted to it. I've always avoided since it's owned/controlled more or less by the CCP.

The internet, primarily the social media sphere has all been weaponized with psychological black/white/grey propaganda. I'm on Gab.com (very little) and mostly Twitter but, only because I been on it for years and have learned how to navigate through the nonsense and stick with the like minded accounts.

I saw on the news today where they were highlighting a one year old child that is supposedly going viral at the moment, and they are pushing to set the child up with his own channel. They even admitted the child responds to the red light on video recorder, and that he "like" being recorded.

Too may parents are setting up their children for the revenue they hope to get by prostituting their children on the internet.

They clueless to the amount of harm this can do to their children. How may child stars fared well in life?

very rarely do i look at any social media, i've always thought that those that are constantly posting on those suffer from a mental disorder
called Histrionic Personality Disorder, that is the need to seek approval from others. i've always called them the look at me sites. and you know what, there are a lot of people that i would say suffer from it world wide.

now i'll have to admit that over the years i've made hundreds of fake accounts and the most popular ones and a few of the dead ones to read and see stuff posted that you had to log in to read. have forgotten all but one and that one is the main one that claims that you have to use your real name, which is bullshit cause i've had that one at least 10 years now and have to use it occasionally.

I think there is something broken in me. I've never been able to figure out the draw of TikTok. Seems like numbing mindlessness to me, and I'm not big on numbing mindlessness. Since it was engineered to be addictive to humans, there must be something inhuman inside me.

I've had a Facebook account for years, so that I could keep up with family when I was far and away. I use it mostly for posting videos marking anniversaries rather than communicating. During the initial part of the lockdown, I spent more time on it since I was out of work, and had nowhere to go and all day to get there, but FB took exception to my posts and "shadow banned" me. I figured that I'd lived 60 years without it, and could go another 60 without it just as easily. I never looked back.

When the shadow ban was up, I went back to just posting music videos to mark anniversaries, mostly deaths to make sure the dead are remembered, and checking for messages. All those folks got along pretty well when I wasn't posting to their timelines, so they'll do just fine without me. I don't miss it.

I don't understand this apparent human need for constant contact and validation. If you have something to say, say it and move onward. If you don't have anything to say, don't say it anyhow just to be moving air around. Life is too short to dwell on mindless apps.

Attempt to convince yourself that one-or-more people that you've never met -but you believe they have some sort of
semi-fanatical yearning for your attendance, are waiting and hanging on your every word and will possibly feel sad if
you fail to daily feed them with your presence.

Your own benefit is that you feel a sense of responsibility, maybe a new emotion to you and there's always the secret
feeling that someone adulates you and maybe the opposite sex to you too.

The coming generations are being taught to function in a world where they are to constantly seek entertainment, or to provide the entertainment. 

Their world starts and ends in the land of "me". Socialization is interaction with avatars, in fantasy virtual worlds, and personal physical contact is taboo.

I have a niece, by marriage. She can't stand to be touched. And no, she was never victimized or traumatized. She is an overly spoiled brat, that thinks she is entitled to be treated as if she is "special". What she is, is social mediarized.

She is 28, so she had to be artificially inseminated to have a child, that I already feel sorry for. All this because she doesn't not want anyone to touch her. The child is a girl but she forbids anyone to give her anything pink.  And prefers to dress her in purple and black. She says her child is gender neutral. 

She calls the child "Little Bear", and no one knows what the child's real name is, yet, because she does not want her child stigmatized by people making variations of her name. Like calling her Cindy, if her name was Cynthia.

Please don't ask me how anything this modern day, socially compliant, generation is going to make it in this world. Most of them are so ridiculous, that they don't even look real. They have become living copies of the characters they dream up in their head.

Though I can't really say I would mourn the death of YouTube, the replacement of YouTube with TikTok like venues is downright terrifying to me.

We already are suffering from short memory spans, The three second mind rape sessions is going to create more problems for our fragile psyches.

I remember political talk of banning TikTok in the US back to 2017. I believe Trump tried in one of his EO's, and yet years later our austere 17 alphabet agencies deem it no threat. I wonder why?
