Going Out of Business Sale at the Supercenter

Today began the 25% off everything portion of a local Walmart Supercenter due to so much in losses from shoplifting. It's not like there aren't oodles of other ones in our city, but I like shopping at that one because if I go during the weekday I can get in and out quick, the people working there know me on sight and the lawn and garden department manager cuts me some awesome deals when it's slow. But not today!

The store was a madhouse by the time we made it there. Uniformed and undercover cops running around everywhere. We started grabbing groceries, things we use from pharmacy and general stuff for the bathroom. But despite the store being packed to the gills and full buggies all over the store not many were doing what we were- most people's carts were overflowing with luxury items. Clothes, electronics, toys and home decor were the stars of the day. 

While we were grabbing spare bottles of fuel for our Coleman stove, multi-packs of toothpaste and an abundance of canned goods and staples for the times ahead most were only concerned with the here and now with no thought for tomorrow.

I pity those poor ignorant fools.
You can't eat a big screen television, neither can your children.
And with a stockpile of weapons and ammo you wont be eating anything from our place either!

What do they know that we don't?

Well the employees and even department managers only know what they've been told and that's due to poor sales and tremendous amounts of shoplifting. The elephant in the room is that it's on the outskirts of the "hood" and they have lost nearly all of their grocery stores, so has downtown, due to shoplifting losses. The big retailers are pulling out of the hood left and right. Fortunately it isn't very close to where we live, I just liked shopping there.

The bigger question is where will they all go to shoplift now? And what is going to happen when the food shortages kick into high gear?

Not sure where she lives, but if it's in Kommiefornia or any other libatardian state that's not prosecuting criminal shoplifters for any thing less than a 1000 bucks, that will drive retail stores out of business there and they'll pull up stakes and move and open new stores in states that protect every bodies rights.

Like Fl, not that we want or need a another wally world Gov Ron don't play that shit. He protects the rights of all his citizens whether they want him to or not, or they believe it or not.

Honestly if you think about it absolutely no one who was born in the US and is likely to still be alive has ever experienced a food shortage. 

For most, the warning will go over their heads until they actually see and experience one. So for now, they are unconcerned with shortages because they can't fathom what they can't fathom.

My mom is still alive and dad who has passed on used to talk about how that the boom didn't really didn't hit them until mid to late 50's. They always talked about how poor they were and lived like they were still rationing like during the war. But to be fair they lived in rural GA, Al, and FL and it seems it took a little longer for the good times to start down here.

Maybe not a food shortage but a horrible recession. Late 70s-mid80s was really bad where I lived. We were very fortunate that we were able to grow a good sized garden, had lots of fruit and nut trees, raised chickens and were able to hunt small game and fish. My sister and I headed out hunting or fishing every day as soon as we got off the school bus- if we didn't there was no meat for supper. Dad handled the garden (with our help), Mom took in sewing and alterations, everybody worked every single day but we made it.  

I do feel sorry for those who don't know how to make it by their own sweat. My guess is that many will either turn to govt programs or turn to crime. Young folks will have to pack up their kids and go back to old mom and pops who hopefully remember those times.

Nope, they prosecute the hell out of shoplifters here. 

Must not be in a libatardian state then.  But criminals don't really care much about laws. On the news tonight there was a report about a woman panhandler who had a criminal record as long as my arm and who has been repeatedly asked to leave a circle k due to her panhandling got so she got a can of gas and went into the store and threw it on the clerk that told her to leave and lit it, now the woman is fighting for her life and the panhandling criminal woman is facing attempted murder charges.

The only liberal city in a red state (only large city really), but the big retailers do prosecute and stick to it here. I used to work at a different Walmart here and we kept good relations with the police so they were extremely quick to respond anytime we called.

I absolutely HATE thieves!!  I've said it before, and I'll say it again...I HATE thieves probably even more than murderers!!  I think I could easily go all Jeffrey Dahmer on a thief!

Today we went back since now everything in the store is 50% off with only 11 days left until closing. You have never seen a Walmart store so wiped out!

We did manage to pick up a few items. We got  a spare pump for our air mattress we use for camping, a box of nails, a large box of Kdog's stop smoking lozenges, some spare canned soup and a few baking goods.

Fairly certain that store will be completely empty within a day or two. Even today everything left in the store fit into a dozen or so short aisles that could have easily been condensed into two regular aisles.

I did MUCH better at Ben's Bargain Center afterwards. Everything in the store is 40-50% off at the register ALL the time. Got a HUGE pack of tea light candles, a spare large container of Tony Chachere's and 3 pairs of printed leggings (that actually had Walmart tags on them) all for $14 while Kdog napped in the vehicle- he can only take so much shopping but  I have to force him to go out in public occasionally or he would become a hermit!
