You know, I was looking for this exact clip, but couldn't find it because I could not recall the young man's name. Thanks for finding and posting it!

As an illustration of the polarization and propaganda we are being subjected to, I'm going to post two polar opposite opinion commentaries on this exact same clip to show how each side is trying to lead the masses around by the nose. It's very telling just to see how each is titled to try to draw in their like minded rubes, and crystalize their thoughts on the matter by shaping what they are supposed to be thinking for their "team".

Essentially, issuing the thoughts we are supposed to have to low information voters. The titles are worded to draw in viewers, like dog whistles calling their own pack into the dog fight.

The first is a right wing opinion piece titled: "UFC Fighter Bryce Mitchell's STUNNING Answer on Ukraine War"





The second is a Left wing opinion piece on the same exact interview entitled "UFC Fighter Bryce Mitchell Delivers Delusional Right-Wing Rant"






It's interesting to note how the stage is set and clicks are baited by, in the first case, calling his response a "STUNNING Answer", and in the opposition case labeling it a "Delusional Right-Wing Rant", but both referring to the exact same set of words spoken by someone else in response to a direct question asked him about his opinion.

There are some that are so masterful at the art of deflection, word manipulation, persuasion, and emotion masking, that you even doubt what is in front of your face and you know to be true.

These amateurs have come out of the woodwork. There are so many of them that they are desensitizing everyone to tricks of the trade, and making the pros easy to spot. I guess that is a good thing.

The guy in the second video was simply pitiful. He was so clumsy and artless at applying "spin" in his attempt to lead folks down the garden path that it was laughable. While he was pointing and saying "but looky over here", I was thinking "butbutbut what about the facts that are right here under our noses instead of the smoke and mirrors over there that you are trying to misdirect us to?"

Effective propaganda has to contain at least a grain of truth, some basis in objective fact. Beyond that, it has to be believable in order to convince anyone other than the True Believers. He utterly and completely fails here on all accounts.

True Believers don't have to be convinced - they are already on board with anything you say. It's others, perhaps fence-sitters,  that have to be convinced to come around to your way of thinking, and THAT is where his incompetence shines through in his abject failure.

It's really the only reason I ever even watch the news any more, on any station. All I watch it for is to spot the propaganda flying. Fox is just as guilty as the rest of throwing bullshit by the shovel-full. It's usually easy to spot just by analyzing word choices. For example, "Putin's brutal assault on Ukraine" carries far more emotional baggage to attempt to influence people's opinions with than the simpler and more straightforwardly truthful phrase "the Russian invasion of Ukraine". "Invasion" is a simple statement of fact, whereas "brutal assault" is designed to elicit emotional responses and prevent rational thought.

I can barely stand to listen to Brian Kilmeade, Shannon Bream, or Sean Hannity. Every word that falls out of their mouths is propagandistic, with the result that even when they are telling the truth, is sounds like a lie. Lately, during this Ukraine dustup, even more Fox commentators have been jumping aboard the propaganda bandwagon, and it shows in their word choices as described above.

Like all other "news services", Fox has become mere entertainment for me. If I want news, I have to dig it out of the internet and reach my own conclusions.


I'm glad Grace put about a ton of popcorn on our last grocery order. I'm gonna need that.
