A tracked Submarine??
#1
I would have to think this was a Russian Navy Experimental Sub.
BUT, I could be wrong.

That was a well done video.

The size of the tracks is what I find spooky. If they were small, regular tracks, it could be a lot of explainable things.

But that big? IDK

I remember reading about this story some years ago.  It was then speculated that indeed this was an experimental sub which, if you consider the Japanese I400 subs (Largest at that time) that carried 3 aircraft while submerged in the 1940's, a tracked sub is within the realms of naval architecture in the 90's.  The I400's were un thought of by the allies and were initially approved by Yamamoto who cared for a fleet of such to carry out attacks on the USA mainland and Panama.  Another large Japanese sub launched mini subs in an attack upon Sydney Harbor.  Previous to the attack a Japanese float plane was seen scoping the area.

I can see from my perspective that the vessel that left the tracks in the vid would be immense but so are most subs nowadays.  My thoughts are that the tracks end with the sub rising off the sea bed and perhaps returning to whence it came.

Intriguing to say the least.

Cheers for the post,

Bally:)

Something I have been thinking about is the possibility that the thing that left the tracks is a boring machine; the kind that is used to make tunnels around the world ? I do not know what it would take to make such a machine submersible and water tight but it could probably be done ?

Well, my husband sent me this article he said is true and he use to still have the Documents to prove it. But was force to destroy those document's in the late 80's due to an internal investigation into Agency Persons keep classified material for future use in a book or something.

Are those wheel or tracks?

Now the Russians say that they cancelled this project in the 60's after one exploded while tunneling thru the Ural mountains and kill everyone on board.
BUT, then you have this.

Quote:Soviet tracked submersibles in Baltic, 1980s

[Image: flag_russia.jpg] [Image: flag_sweden.jpg] A spate of submarine incursions led to the suspicion that the Soviet Navy was operating tracked submersibles in Swedish waters. Track marks were found on the sea floor but the exact submarine(s) responsible has yet to surface. In the 1980s, Mana (Swedish naval intelligence: Marinens Ananlysgrupp) wrote a report which included several sketches of the tracks and hypothetical illustrations of the types of submarines which could have caused them. They suspected that Russian diesel-electric submarines (WHISKEY, FOXTROT and ZULU Classes were among those operated in the Baltic) operated as host submarines for smaller midget submarines and combat swimmers. Some of the midget submarines were believed to be responsible for the parallel track marks.

Good thinking, but what gets me is that the tracks end.  My thinking is that the machine crawled along the bottom then raised and left.  No need to surface.

Kind regards,

Bally.  :)

The USA developed some subs which could sail like a normal submarine but also has wheels. NR-1 was the first experimental sub of this nature. The subs mission was to go to a location and then go to the bottom and use its wheels for stability on the bottom while retrieving something/whatever on the bottom of the sea. Ta Da !!

Mr. G. here.
My Dear Wife ask me to reply.
That My Friend is the North Pole and the Soviets have been there for years, yes we did suspect they used their "Crawler/Mole" in the N. P. in areas that were rich in Gold and other precious metals.
That was back in the very late 70's and early 80's.
The American "Crawler" submarine was used for taping their underwater communication lines for their Military bases and other communications.

Okay, I am going back to cleaning weapons and lightly oiling rounds and magazines.

Ruskies seem to build more and more bases in the Artic area, make them bigger , USSR did collapse they claim....but this game there is building momentum

New Satellite Images Reveal Extent of Russia’s Military and Economic Build-Up in the Arctic

They do seem to be quite interested about undersea data cables

From this secret base, Russian spy ships increase activity around global data cables

And the magnetic north pole is moving from Canada to Russia now......soon they will declare it`s now Russia

A new development in Norway.
Quote:Norwegian Undersea Surveillance Network Had Its Cables Mysteriously Cut

The seafloor ocean observatory off the coast of northern Norway can detect submarine traffic, which could make it a prime target for the Russians.
Was it the Russians?? Or maybe the Americans  tinysurprised

Quote:Undersea sensors off the coast of northern Norway that are able to collect data about passing submarines, among other things, have been knocked out, the country’s state-operated Institute of Marine Research, or IMR, has revealed.
The cause of the damage is unknown, but the cables linking the sensor nodes to control stations ashore are said to have been cut and then disappeared. This has raised suspicions about deliberate sabotage, possibly carried out by the Russian government, which definitely has the means to do so.

The IMR, one of the biggest marine research institutes in Europe, described “extensive damage” to the outer areas of the Lofoten-Vesterålen (LoVe) Ocean Observatory, putting the system offline. LoVe, which was only declared fully operational in August 2020, consists of a network of underwater cables and sensors located on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, an area of strategic interest for both Norway and Russia.
