A navy friend of mine used to say, "There are no bad Naval aviators as all the bad ones are at the bottom of the sea." He was FOS but a good guy to beat in golf !! hahaha

A couple of mishaps in my time but thankfully no one perished. Some injuries. Sadly some good pilots came to grief from my air station during flight ops. I remember being very aware when on the flight deck during ops. My carrier was described by some yank pilots like "trying to land on a postage stamp." We had one pilot in a 'scooter' who went off the bow dropping nose down after a 'cat' failure. He had the presence of mind to let the ship pass over him before extricating himself and popping up in the wake. An exchange yank pilot went off the angle after an arrestor failure. Good punch out and giving the thumbs up while passing by the ship. Great vid mate. Bally:)
