Yep... if you own nothing, you have nothing to supply yourself and loved-ones with in order to have a fair existence.
Unless... you rely on a Government to take care of you.

The basics of life have been lost. If -as a child, you misbehaved or judged to have been naughty, a punishment may
issued. No trip to a favourite place, treats withheld, ordered to go to bed without supper or even a physical chastising.
All decisions made the by the parent.

Now simply swap-out the word 'parent' for another that represents an authoritative figure and the answer to why
the credo 'Own Nothing, Be Happy' becomes -not only infantile, but down-right dangerous.

We just got our house paid off last year. Now the property taxes are going up AGAIN, and that's under Trump. I can't imagine how much they'll jump if Biden gets in.
If we end up having to sell after ME working my a$$ off to get it paid, you are going to see the REAL bitch in me come out.

last couple of naive generations see this kind of idea as virtuous.

Well, it's right in line with a lot of other maneuvering right now supported by the waffleing cheerleaders (i.e. firing squad wall warmers). It's not really "Defund the Police" it's just that we will have reform. Then why not call it that? We have different words in the language to describe different situation. Pick the right words... unless you already have? We'll just have private entities who "look after" the citizens security.
