I can't speak for all Boomers, but it's just filling my brain with porn - 'cause I dunno how to use the rest of the internet. I'm a Boomer - can't teach us nothin'!
---------------------------- Been reading the HuffPo article, and it seems... odd. Right now, they are blaming Facebook for feeding Boomer "misinformation". has anyone here even BEEN to Facebook? It's a left-wing paradise. Therefore, I have to wonder just what they are classifying as "misinformation" that is allegedly rotting our brains. All the stuff there is left wing, and even HuffPo is calling it "misinformation"? yeah, well, they are right in one respect - I read that in HuffPo, which is on the internet, and it DID blow my mind! ---------------------------- So.The bottom line, the punch line, at the bottom of the article, the conclusion they were trying to lead us to, and which is stated only near the end, can be paraphrased as "censorship is good. We just need more censorship. People should only get approved news, and then this Conservative problem will just go away and we can have our Worker's Paradise." I wish I could say it surprised me, but it didn't. .
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.
Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’

BTW, I finished the article and added my conclusion to my post above. You can blame my conclusion on me being a Neanderthalian Boomer. .

Meanwhile... Somewhere north... in a socialist utopia dreamland paradise.
"What Is The Internet Doing To Boomers’ Brains?" Nothing. Absolutely fucking nothing. Because the self-entitled arrogant polluters refuse to learn how to use it. They demand face to face customer service. That is one thing they know how to do well. Demanding. I am speaking about Finnish boomers here, we have them too. American boomers, for example, seem flexible and more reasonable. So there are a LOT of them. They have grabbed everything. Money, power, influence. They are used to it. The dictatorship of the majority. Every benefit, every bonus, every bit and piece that can somehow be grabbed, they have it, because first they demanded it to be so, and then they decided it to be so. Fuck them. They play their lottery and other gambling by filling the coupons and giving them to the cashier at the grocery store. Who does that shit? They have always like 10 or 20 of those and it takes time. But no, they just can't go online, do it at their home, safely. Their food is attention. They are the masters of time in grocery stores. When they want something to be done, the whole fucking world needs to completely stop, until their demands are met. But i have time to wait. New generation is rising to power. I have time to wait... do they? Go to the grocery store and try to buy 20 more years of time to dick around. See how that works for you... (I emphasize: this applies to Finland. I don't know how it is like elsewhere. But i bet it is WAY better than here)

Is the internet the new LSD for the boomers ?, because I missed the LSD part

TL:DR
Just the title and subtitle need mentioning. Quote:What Is The Internet Doing To Boomers’ Brains? I've been on the internet since its very beginning, with Sympatico, a server that is so outdated now that no one uses it. At first, it was a wonder. And it still is, if someone likes to research and look around. The internet has opened up frontiers around the globe. The internet has everything one needs to find. Good and bad. But most will prefer the apps, FB, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, name it. Those should be for entertainment purposes but they've turned into massive habits tracking apps and people worship them just the same. Misinformation rabbit hole? I don't need the internet for that. Just listening to the daily news on TV does that job for me. The internet is a fantastic tool and we are fortunate to live in those times we live in, because of it. Misuse of the internet is the problem. Not the internet itself. Electricity is a wonderful thing but it can kill ya. Same thing. JMO.

Quote:The internet has everything one needs to find. Would disagree here. The content of the 'net is heavily weighted toward "things" that occurred after the web was established. There are MANY topics and events prior to that which get only brief mention, if that. IOW, the focus is really distorted in favor of the last 2 to 3 decades. Cheers Location: The lost world, Elsewhen
"At the same time, seniors are becoming increasingly reliant on the internet for information. Over the last decade, older adults reporting that they get their news from social media rocketed from 8% to 40%. Facebook, one of America’s primary delivery devices for partisan, misleading and outright false information, is growing fastest among people over 50. Meanwhile, the percentage of teens reporting Facebook use fell from 71% in 2014 to 51% in 2018.
This doesn’t have to be an existential crisis. While it’s true that older generations are more vulnerable to fake news in some ways, they are more resilient in others. Millions of millennials’ parents did not suddenly decide to slide into conspiracy-land. They are simply living in a country with more and better ways of pulling them there". What's the old saying? ....Bulshit in, bullshit out...... My cousin is watching the news most all of his waking hours. Considers himself one of the Most informed of people.... Now let that sink in. NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSN, Fox, PBS etc...... Now that's a crushing amount of information or miss-information, propaganda, lies or plausable deniabilitys. ya think?

ha ha ha, one of the leading left wing fish wrapping rags saying boomers are sucking up misinformation when they are the one of the leaders / promoters of it.
hell i don't even use any social platforms, only time my digital shadow darkens one of them, is under one of the hundreds of phony names most of which i have forgotten, to check out a link posted that requires a log in, or those that don't. Arianna Huffington, co founder is a big hypocrite. while still head of the fish wrapper she was on a radio show once at a business i was at one day, i think it was hanity. any way she was going on and on about people flying in airplanes, driving big ol fancy cars going on about how they poplute so much. hanity asked her how she got there, she hem hawed around and wouldn't answer, hanity asked isn't it ture you flew from england on a private jet. she again hem hawed around some more and he kept on pressing her, and finally she yes she did but it was going there anyway. so i guess in her lefty's mind, it's all right to do something if someone, something is already doing something. pitiful, just pitiful.
