I hate wearing the thing too but do it anyways. I'm a little bored with the folks that think they can walk onto someone's private property and do as they choose. If a Bakery doesn't have to bake a damned cake for a would be patron then companies surely have a right to have you wear a mask. No shirt  no shoes, "no mask", no service. Let's just get this behind us, fercryingoutloud.

Absolutely correct. No one has the right to tread on someone else's property and do as they please, including private businesses. Their house, their rules. By the same token, no private business has a right to expect me to shop there if I don't like their rules.

I've not been to Walmart since they implemented their private mandatory mask rule, so I don't know if my very public Executive Order exempting me will fly there or not. If it doesn't, well, there are other places I can carry my money to.

Point blank, I can't breathe in the masks because I have COPD, wear them too long in the humidity and I start feeling close to passing out..

The governors EO states that if pre-existing health conditions make wearing a mask intolerable that we are exempt from wearing them and no one can say boo.

But that's all changing. Want to see your doctor? Mask is 100% mandatory or your not allowed in the building. Walmart policy is now not letting anyone in without a mask, period, without exception according to my son today.

My breathing is so labored with a mask on I now have to go through a full sleep study and new COPD work up before surgery, because the doctor can't tell what I breathe like when I'm allowed to breathe normally and not be suffocated... why? Because mask.

It's ridiculous... for real. I don't leave the house often enough to contract the virus but I'm not allowed enough air when I am out to keep from passing out cold should I want to, I don't know... spend my money on necessities.

It's gotten ridiculous. The EO should be sufficient to say some of us need air.

I'm asking because, you see, it IS mandatory where I live and the side effects are worth a discussion.

Well, yes, and no. it is mandatory, but I am exempt by Executive Order. I have to carry a copy of the EO with me when I sally forth, or the Mask Gestapo tries to give me hell.

This was just on the news here again a short time ago.  I was watching with my wife when it was reported that a supermarket chain, which we shopped at yesterday, is looking at having customers wear a mask before they enter.  I really don't care.  But what I saw for sale at a pharmacy (drug store) nearby were the masks,  N95,  selling at $49.99 per pack of 10.

I reckon if a large chain of supermarkets or other businesses want you to wear a mask before you enter how about presenting them to each customer who is not wearing one.  I mean there are hand sanitizer stations at most locations nowadays for free.

I get we have to purchase reusable shopping bags.  Okay.  I take them home and store them.  I go shopping (about once every 3 weeks) and by the time I get to the supermarket carpark (45 minute drive) I realize I've forgotten those bags.  I'm sure I would forget a mask.  Just me getting old.

I went to the docs yesterday, too, to pick up a prescription I had ordered the week before.  I wasn't allowed to approach the front door.  "STOP" sign on the oldies ramp.  Ring first and the number provided.  I don't have a hand phone as I normally have no use for one where I live.  (Poor to No coverage anyway).  Anyway, I got their attention waving through the outside window and my prescription was finally dispensed.  Of course I'm adjusting to all this and really don't mind.  Shrugs shoulders.  Guess this old country fogy will have to get his excreta together and remember the 'recyclable' shopping bags.  Saves 15 cents per bag aye!  I'll catch up with masks later on.  Don't wear them out here in the hills.

Kind regards for reading my little whinge,

@"Grace", that's ridiculous!  I'd tell you to write your governor, but he's a democrat, so I doubt it would do any good.

As for Walmart, I read yesterday that they walked back on the mask thing. No one was shopping there.  I don't know if that was just here where I live, or country wide.

Good luck to you. Hopefully this farce will be over soon.

Writing the governor will not help. Not because he's a Democrat, but because he has already done everything he CAN do - he's the one that put the exemption into an Executive Order. But, as pointed out above, private concerns can make their own rules in the matter, EO's be damned.

Concerning Walmart, I read where they had walked back on their mask restrictions, but when Number One Son went to the local Wally World this morning, he said they had someone at the door enforcing the mask rule and handing out masks to folks who didn't bring one.

So, I dunno. Maybe getting back to living solely off the land and dropping out of Society and off the grid entirely is the only answer.

Herman Cain had stage 4 colon cancer.  Did he die from that, or Covid-19?  His body isn't even cold yet. Let's wait on the autopsy to find out what killed him. Although, I'm sure the hospital will call it death from Covid-19 so they'll rake in all the extra money, just like they do when people die from motorcycle accidents.

mediumfacepalm

@"Mystic Wanderer"  Even after the Autopsy, they'll list him as a COVID 19 fatality for the Scare Tactics.

Hmmmm.....9 day after Tulsa he was rushed to the hospital. He was at the rally, maskless. Perhaps it's me but the photos showing him at the Tulsa rally don't have him appearing as a man at deaths door? Oh well.... and by the by, he was a survivor of cancer and was in remission.

Your sister is absolutely right. A N95 mask is better but at seven bucks a pop here, they can shove it.

My step daughter is a dentist. You should see the rules she has to follow, it's insane. The N95 mask over another mask, a visor, gloves, a gown and they had to have horizontal plexiglass installed between them and the patient. Add in the dentist micro glasses that they have to wear...well...she can't see shit.

If things don't start to get better this fall, I am telling you, the suicide rates will become higher than the covid numbers.

Now there are rumors that they want to implement wearing a mask inside AND outside.

This will not end well.

We have to wear them in stores and such yeah, I'm about to start back at the Gym, and that is the only place that has me dreading wearing a Mask for obvious reasons! other than that, all I care about is not putting my Dad at risk, he's too old and not in very good health. Or the other few people in my immediate family, so I wear one! even if it's 1% difference then I'm all for it, it's a bloody mask, not that much of a big deal!

Hoping we will get back to our lives, like I took a quote out of everything you've said.

But to be honest, I doubt we will get back to our lives like it used to be.

Notice that there is a heck of a lot of people now mentioning a "new normal" ?

Why? Why push that agenda? Why even mention the possibility of a new normal?

Some people are even comparing those measures to when wearing a seat belt in your car became mandatory. Everyone hated it but now it's normal.

Talk about a comparison that doesn't compare!!

I'm sorry but I don't want any of this shit to be my new normal. Not.One.Bit.

Get done with this thing and give me my life back, is what I hope for.

But I have this weird gut feeling that it won't be that simple.

Again, this is my opinion and I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong.

Once again, remember the CCP virus kills 0.6% of infected people, that means you have a 99.4% survival rate. So one has to ask why are the governments of the world destroying the economys and oppressing the people

Totalitarianism.

Simon says:

Put on a mask; they do.

Keep a distance; they do.

Wash your hands; they do.

Police your own businesses; they do.

Report the non conformists; they do.

The ordinary citizen is now a judge, jury and at times executioner, playing the Simon says game, except it's not a game. It's putting the chess pieces in strategic places for the final checkmate.

Totalitarianism.

This will not end well.

I have a GI M42A2 gas mask I can wear. It seals to my face - well, it used to, before I grew a beard - covers my eyes, mouth, and nose, and I can actually breathe in it as well as I can out of it because - valves. The problem is, it scares the hell out of folks when they see me coming, especially if I put the hood on with it for a better seal, not to mention the rest of the MOPP gear.

Another problem is that here in Virginia, it is illegal to carry a concealed weapon while wearing a mask, for obvious reasons. I know that if I see some yokel coming at ME with a gun and a mask on, he's bought and paid for, no questions asked. I've wondered, frequently, if curtailing CCW rights wasn't the REAL reason for the mandatory masking order here. Doesn't matter to me, as I'm exempt from it, and not gonna wear one. In all honesty, I'm far more likely to need that weapon than I am to need a mask, as I have a much higher chance of encountering a miscreant than I have of encountering the CCP virus here. We've had a sharp uptick of "test confirmed" COVID cases, but still not nearly enough to panic over - especially when one considers the unreliability of the tests.

Last time I checked, we had 53 cases in the entire county, up from 17 that were confined to a single boarding school. I'm more likely to run into bigfoot than I am to run into COVID in this county, and FAR more likely to run into a coyote or a bear.

True!

People wear all sorts of masks, or these weird face coverings, do not wash them (if they're washable) and keep the throwaway ones for days. It gives a false sense of security.

I absolutely hate that we couldn't vote on this. Or discuss appropriate measures. It was just do as we say and that's it.

People pro & con all have groups on Facebook, denouncing or promoting them.

People are snitching people left, right and center, because it doesn't conform to their own sense of false safety.

It is a bad nightmare. Except, we aren't sleeping..

A 'lady' made a big deal about it over here in Aus.  She was labelled a 'Karen".  Her video was on all the news channels.  Showed her visiting 'Bunnings' and asked to wear a mask or leave the store.  This went from the floor staff to the manager etc and eventually the 'wollopers' who visited her home.

She made another home video which was also posted explaining that she is of the thought that the whole Covid thing went a bit too far so she didn't reckon she needed a mask.  I think she ranted a bit too much and I shrugged my shoulders, looked at 'true love' and said, "Crikey, she's lost the plot."  Not because of her position but her smiling vocals pouring out too much emotion.

I'm of the understanding that she called the police about the 'bunnings' matter who later visited her.  Bit of a waste of resources if you ask me.

My thoughts,

Kind regards,

Its 0.6%, we in Europe count only the deaths caused by the CCP virus as no one get paid we dont count people who die in  motor bike crashes
