Hydroxychloroquine lowers COVID-19 death rate
#1
Despite the numerous COVID cases being treated with hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) with success, there are still some people that seem to want to find something negative about the drug.

Maybe this study will help show this drug in a positive light, as it should be.

Quote:A Henry Ford Health System study shows the controversial anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine helps lower the death rate of COVID-19 patients, the Detroit-based health system said Thursday.

Officials with the Michigan health system said the study found the drug “significantly” decreased the death rate of patients involved in the analysis.

Funny, the HCQ drug has never been controversial in all the time that it has been around since 1955.
Not until this election year, that is.

Quote:“As doctors and scientists, we look to the data for insight,” said Steven Kalkanis, CEO of the Henry Ford Medical Group. “And the data here is clear that there was a benefit to using the drug as a treatment for sick, hospitalized patients.”

The study, published in the International Society of Infectious Disease, found patients did not suffer heart-related side effects from the drug.

And as with any virus, those people who already have underlying health issues are the most vulnerable and often times, cannot fight it off due to their immune system being weak.

That being said, it does not mean that HCQ does not work, it merely means that the already weak immune system was not able to recover.

If the medicine was so dangerous and controversial, then why did WHO put it on their list of most essential medicines in 1973, claiming it was one of the safest drugs to use?

Quote:Hydroxychloroquine was approved for medical use in the United States in 1955.[2] It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, the safest and most effective medicines needed in a health system.[8]

In 2017, it was the 128th most commonly prescribed medication in the United States, with more than five million prescriptions.[9][10] The speculative use of hydroxychloroquine for COVID‑19 threatens its availability for people with established indications.[4]

I am hoping that our so-called "experts" set aside their political differences and finally acknowledge how helpful the drug HCQ has been. Unlike Lupus or other medical conditions that require people to take it daily or as needed, COVID patients only take it during a short period of time.

Bump, Bump.
Yes I Bump it Damn It, The Truth Must Be Told!
Quote:Yale professor says hydroxychloroquine could save 100,000 lives — but it's being stifled by a 'propaganda war'

The truth is: 'It's a political drug now'
Yes, because President Trump mention it and uses it.
They HATE anything Trump Related.
Quote:Yale epidemiology professor Dr. Harvey Risch said Tuesday that he believes the President Trump-touted drug, hydroxychloroquine, could save up to 100,000 lives if used properly to treat the coronavirus.

Speaking with Fox News' Laura Ingraham Monday night, Risch insisted that the controversial drug is proven to be effective against the disease and safe for people to use, but lamented that it has become the victim of a "propaganda war."
"It's a political drug now, not a medical drug," Risch said. "I think we are basically fighting a propaganda war against the medical facts, and that colors not just population people, how they think about it, but doctors, as well.

"There are many doctors that I've gotten hostile remarks [from] saying that all the evidence is bad for it and, in fact, that is not true at all," he said. "All the evidence is actually good for it when it's used in outpatient uses.
