I get very emotional watching these videos. My dad served in WWII, and my brother served in Vietnam.
I'm so proud of all who fought to keep our country free. The sacrifice they made must never be forgotten.

Yes, Yes, I lost many Family members to the Japanese in China during WWII, my father and mother met each other in the resistance group they belonged to. My husband had two tours in Vietnam (before we met) and wound in the 11th month of his second tour. His father fought in WWII and was wounded also. Thank You to all the Veterans of all the Armed Forces of the World.

Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.
Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’

Thank you one and all for the replies: The cinematic creativity plus the music really got my heart to going in the video I posted as I had never seen it before.
Dad served in WW2 and was the last guy in his squad twice simple because he was a machine gunner and fired until the barrel melted down. The air to air scenes were pretty darn good.. The ground stuff I just have to shake my head at war's stupidity.. During WW11 the 100th bomb group lost 86% of their crews and aircraft.. Some of the raids were screwed up from the get go and should have been recalled or never launched... But no, send them anyway..! There is a war going on ! My experience with big gaggles of many birds was not nice. I much preferred to do the single ship stuff and not get shot down. Losing 85 B-17 aircraft in one day with ten crew members is really bad and it does not take long for the numbers to add up. For almost two years they sacrificed our guys and bombers trying to beat down the Luftwaffe for D-day.. Without the late entry of the P-51 fighter which could escort the bombers we would have lost more men and material. Some of my instructors/fellow instructors flew B-17s, B-24s, and P-51s in the war.. There were some good flying stories to be had if you could pry them out of the guys.. I had a friend who flew for the Luftwaffe in BF-109s during the war. He was working as a marshal at a golf course.. He survived by being above and diving straight through the bomber formations at a speed his aircraft was not quite capable of doing. He would do a snap shot and keep on going at the speed of heat..That all changed after the P-51s showed up as they were faster and had 6, 50 caliber machine guns that could put some serious hurt on anyone they got the bead on. He had a lot of respect for everyone who flew and died and was a fine guy even though he was on the losing side and probably a NAZI who was defending the fatherland...weren't they all ? hahah

For those who have never been on the receiving end of a mortar or artillery attack.... for those who have never known they are going to die but decide to fight on.. for those who lived and died..
When I see the stupid waste of life it really does make me wonder .... As the shells walk to your position even an atheist is heard to mutter god please make them quit... |
