(JANWC) Hidden Realm
#1
It hadn't been long since Brook and Tyler had moved to the Country. They weren't too thrilled about leaving their familiar home and old friends behind and made sure to let their parents know every chance they got. One day as they were out exploring, their world changed forever. The last of the leaves had fallen from the old woodland trees and blanketed the cold earth below. Their bare branches reached up toward the cold, grey sky above. Brook walked beside her younger Brother. "Hey, lets check out that abandoned building down the road. Look at that architectural design! I bet it was amazing in its day!" Tyler grinned. "Let's try to get in the back where we can't be seen."

The leaves crunched beneath their feet as they made their way to the mysterious building. They discovered that the wooden door to the cellar was rotten and half off the rusted hinges. The entry was easy, too easy. They climbed carefully down the old steps and into the basement. There wasn't much to see accept for some dusty furniture piled up and a small window allowing sunlight to illuminate the room, but an old desk intrigued Brook. She opened a draw and found a mysterious dark stone of some kind, carved with an unusual design. Tyler was beside himself with excitement. "That thing looks old, maybe it's worth a lot of money. Take it!" Brook hesitated. She wasn't one for stealing, but this...this was quite a discovery and was left unclaimed for years. She gently put it into one of her coat pockets.

As they continued to explore, they noticed a stairway around the corner and proceeded down the cold stone steps. "Wow, what are these cables and lights? Looks like an old railway or something." said Brook. As they travelled through the long tunnel, the artifact in Brook's pocket began to vibrate and hum. She pulled it out of her pocket and there was a bright flash of light and from the light a mysterious woman appeared. She was young and beautiful, yet her long wild hair was completely white. The siblings looked to each other and back at the woman. Tyler's eyes were wide with disbelief. "Who...what...are you?"

The woman smiled warmly. "I am Aria, keeper of the stone and guardian of the dragons. She gently stepped toward Brook and took the artifact from her. It has been a very long time since any human has ventured here. I find them fascinating and kind of miss them. The dragons feel the same. I think it is safe to take you to them. There you will find many wondrous things and beings and beauty as you have never known before. Come, take my hand." The teens were mesmerized and couldn't refuse. In the distance there were colored lights dancing like stars and dragons of every color, size and shape, wings spread wide and heads bowed in greeting. Brook and Tyler each took one of Aria's hands and proceeded forward without hesitation and never looked back.

The End
