Wonder how the democrats will react to this news? Mueller, according to Wikileaks, took a stolen sample of highly enriched uranium to the Russians on a trip there in 2009. Hmm... this could get interesting!
Quote:Digging into its treasure trove of diplomatic cables, Wikileaks uncovered the secret Mueller mission. It occurred at a time when the United States and Russia were cooperating to uncover smuggling of nuclear materials.
Using what passes for current Democrat logic, would this mean that President Barack Obama was acting in a treasonous manner in trying to stop the flow of stolen nuclear materials by cooperating with Russia?
The 2009 cable shows that the Russian government enlisted the aid of the United States in learning more about nuclear smuggling in the country of Georgia.
The highly-enriched uranium (HEU) was seized in a sting operation that involved one Russian national and several Georgian accomplices. The HEU then was transferred to U.S. custody for storage at a secure Department of Energy (DOE) facility.
The cable explains how the United States became involved in Russia’s two-year quest to obtain a 10-gram sample of the stolen material.
Quote:In response to the Russian request, the Georgian Government authorized the United States to share a sample of the material with the Russians for forensic analysis. Director Mueller previously planned to deliver the sample in April (Ref A), but due to a scheduling conflict the trip was canceled.”
The cancelled Mueller trip was rescheduled for September 21, 2009.
The transfer procedure called for Mueller to deliver the sample after his plane landed in Moscow to the Federal Security Service (FSB). The FSB is the successor organization to the Soviet Union’s KGB. The cable further spelled out how the State Atomic Energy Corporation of Russia (Rosatom) would be involved.
Quote:Embassy Moscow LegAtt informed the FSB prior to Mueller’s intended April delivery and received confirmation that the FSB would take custody of the sample after the Director’s plane landed. EST Moscow also informed Rosatom of the planned transfer and that the U.S. placed a high priority on completing this transfer (Ref B). Once the LegAtt told FSB counterparts the April trip had been canceled, Ambassador Beyrle informed Igor Neverov (Ref C), who said that he understood but was disappointed the trip was postponed.”
News of the Wikileaks disclosure has yet to draw much reaction from the mainstream media or hysterical Democrats.
