The "48 states" gave away how old this is.  I also noticed he didn't say one nation "under God", as we were taught in school.  Was that added to it later?

Yes, at the end of the video it he explains that two more states have been added and after the two states were added the "under God" was added, he also stated that he hoped the Pledge would never be considered a Prayer because he didn't want it banned from School.
