Monsanto Charged With Crimes Against Nature and Humanity, Set to Stand Trial in 2016
#1
If this is true, then HOORAY for the "good guys".  :)   But, I'm wondering if this is like those trials that aren't really "legal" trials.
Does anyone know?  Please comment, if you do.

Quote:In an effort to expose the damage Monsanto inflicts on the environment and its inhabitants — and to send a strong message to other companies who disregard the well-being of the planet for monetary gain — the corporation will stand trial.

“Monsanto promotes an agroindustrial model that contributes at least one third of global anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions; it is also largely responsible for the depletion of soil and water resources, species extinction and declining biodiversity, and the displacement of millions of small farmers worldwide. This is a model that threatens peoples’ food sovereignty by patenting seeds and privatizing life.” (source)

The Tribunal is to be held at The Hague on October 16, 2016 (World Food Day) and will review the allegations made against Monsanto, as well as assess the damage caused by the corporation.

“The Tribunal will rely on the “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights” adopted at the UN in 2011. It will also assess potential criminal liability on the basis of the Rome Statute that created the International Criminal Court in The Hague in 2002, and it will consider whether a reform of international criminal law is warranted to include crimes against the environment, or ecocide, as a prosecutable criminal offense, so that natural persons could incur criminal liability. Recognizing ecocide as a crime is the only way to guarantee the right of humans to a healthy environment and the right of nature to be protected.” (source)

Quote:Monsanto, in particular, is known as one of the most destructive corporations of all times. In response to the ongoing damage caused by the company, a coalition of food, farming and environmental justice groups — including the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), International Federation of Organic Agricultural Movements (IFOAM), Navdanya, Regeneration International (RI) and Millions Against Monsanto, among others — have taken matters into their own hands. During the COP21 event in Paris, the alliance announced that Monsanto will be put on trial in The Hague, Netherlands for “crimes against nature and humanity” come autumn 2016.

Yes, this sounds legit

We will have to stay tuned come Oct. to see what comes of this

From a year ago...

Quote:On May 23, the international March Against Monsanto aims to shame the global agrochemical giant, and it’s already plastering the country singer’s face on posters and social media callouts. Its website is rallying protesters by citing the recent FDA approval for the company’s GMO cotton and soybean plants, among other news.

The more they get exposed, the better chances of following suit to Russia's ban of Monsanto.

Quote:Roundup has been an linked to an extensive list of chronic conditions and diseases, according to Truthout, including ADHD, Alzheimer’s, autism, birth defects, cancer, heart disease and respiratory illnesses, among others.

Monsanto’s Newest GMO Crops Under Fire Ahead of Global Protest

Scientists in France are also putting them under fire with a new study where they used GMO products on 200 rats for a two year period.

It's about time a tribunal looks into those criminals.

The last thing I read was Bayer had made an offer of several billion dollars for the company. I wonder what effect that would have on existing or future fines and lawsuits ?

And we have some farmers suing Monsanto over Roundup.  I wish more would stand up against this and the round up ready crops.

Yes, perfectinsanity posted about the possible merger here

Not sure if the deal will go thru or not
Don't think Monsanto wants to relinquish everything, so it maybe a partial merge???

Does something like this have to be approved I wonder?

Oh yes it gave them cancer! This is the same product that the UN just coincidentally releasd a dodgy report on saying it is not carcinogenic, they can't seem to make their minds up! I do not believe in coincidence like that! I am sure Monsanto will love using this in their defense! They are disgusting.

And ofcourse they have their dirty tentacles in the UN so ofcourse they will say whatever they like, and it furthers their depopulation agenda that they have spoke about so win/win for them!

Did you see when 92 children were just poisoned by it in Peru also!

NO!  I hadn't seen that.  But as I was saving that story, I was looking through my file, and I have a story from2013, about Argentina and their agrochemicals (roundup, of course) being the probable cause of the huge increase of birth defects.
When are we going to say enough is enough?

The consumers for the most part have spoken out.

But even the FDA calls people like us overacting/paranoid, protecting the likes of Monsanto

Of course, they have former Monsanto employees in the government now, so am not surprised.
And Monsanto has very deep pockets to which persuade others to their "way"

Bottom line....they don't care about what we, the consumers, have to say about it.
All they care about is the money aspect of their poisonous business.
