During the midst of mass arrests, mace attacks, and beatings from batons, a stampede of bison suddenly appeared near the Standing Rock protest camp. The Sioux erupted with a cry of joy, as they had been praying for assistance from the Tatanka Oyate during their standoff with riot police and national guardsmen.
Quote:Native Americans attempting to stop a pipeline from being built on their land and water just got assistance from a large herd of wild buffalo.
Indigenous culture honors American bison (known as Tatanka Oyate, or Buffalo Nation) as a symbol of sacrifice, as the bison give their lives to provide food, shelter, and clothing through the use of their meat and their hides. Native Americans maintain a spiritual tradition with bison, believing that as long as buffalo — a gift from the Great Spirit — roam free and as long as the herds are bountiful, the sovereignty of indigenous people would remain strong.

There was a buffalo in that video? Not only did I not see thousand of them in it, I couldn't even find one. I reckon they must have been there somewhere, because the Indians got pretty excited, But I'll be damned if I could detect them, The cameraman didn't do a very good job. for example, when he panned into the sky, I was nearly certain we weren't going to see any buffalo up there, despite people buying something called "buffalo wings". I've seen buffalo before - they don't have any wings, either.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.
Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’

Yes, where Gordi marked is where they were. Are you watching on a small phone? I saw them clearly on my big ole desktop.

That was my mistake then. I thought that was a line of haystacks, which is what it would be if seen around here. I was expecting to see a big herd of buffalo thundering down on the line of cops and scattering them, but since they really weren't much moving, and just staying stationary, it looked like haystacks to me.
'Twould have been much more impressive as an answer to the Indian's prayers if the buffalo had swept in and trampled the line of cops.
I'm watching it on a "netbook", which is kinda like a laptop that was left too long in the dryer. It LOOKS like a laptop, but has a 10" screen instead of normal laptop size screen. Not as small as a phone (my phone doesn't go on the internet at any time, for any thing - too big of a security risk), but not as big as a real computer, either.

Daddy, have you misplaced your glasses again? The buffalo were running. Some of them stopped, but in the beginning when the guy started yelling, they were running across the field; they had just came into view.
I agree it would have been great if they had headed straight toward the cops. What an undeniable message that would have been!
