Remember the movie Enemy of the State with Gene Hackman? We're there. If not further ahead, even.

I remember seeing Enemy of the State when it first came out and thinking that if that could really be done then this world wouldn't be fit to live in.

Enemy of the State was mature tech when the movie was released. I'd imagine _some_ of what we saw in the movie Eagle Eye is possible now. There's almost no IT out there that can't be 'focus compromised' on-the-spot. Lots of concern about what's embedded in the physical layer of tech ... lots.
