The grass isn't greener....
#1
So...
I originally loved my last job.  Fairly easy, good pay, mostly good people to work with, no covid bs, ect.  I worked there for 3 years.  The problem was my boss.  I didn't realize it, but the boss was a narcissist, who was never wrong. (even when proven otherwise)
So I started looking for another job.  I did miss doing payroll and such, so I looked in that field.
Mind you, before this job, I had been with my job for over 20 years, then a company buy went bad.
So anyway, I went on a few interviews, didn't hear anything, then I did.
It was great on paper.  HR & Payroll.  Small company, that had been in business for almost 100 years.  I didn't have any experience in trucking industry, but they were ok with that.
I had also never given a 2 week notice.
So, I accepted the offer.
Put in my 2 weeks, which was awkward as heck.
And went off to start my new adventure.
Well, turns out there were a lot of other questions I should have asked, that I didn't think about.
Health insurance?  It said they offered it.  Turns out it is expensive as heck.
Holidays?  You work Christmas and New Years Eve's.
401K?  They are still working on it.
Oh, by the way, we just bought the company from the old owners, and have big corp silent partners.
And the 2 people who mostly bought it, don't communicate well about daily issues.. well, one does, the other is horrible.
No office for human resources, just out with 2 other office workers in the front.
And the most fun.  One of those office workers is a sibling to one of the owners, that has been there for 5 years and resents not having the office manager job anymore, even though it was open to apply apparently, so they just do what they want, when they want.
Plus the bonus of the 3 old owners, coming in everyday, like they still run the place, offering "advice" on how to do things.
Maybe it is just because I am older, and had been out of the job hunt for so long, but I really almost ran out crying the first week.
It has now been almost 90 days, and I am still wanting to look again.  Much more carefully this time.
But I also wish I wouldn't have left the previous one.
Better the Devil you know?
Just needed to vent somewhere, where it wouldn't be found.
At this point, if I could win just enough money to pay off the house, I swear I would get a mindless job at Walmart or something, just to keep the lights on.
