NC is a strange study in opposites, much like VA. Urban areas are going Marxist while the hinterlands are remaining staunchly Conservative. Like much of America, that artificial gap is being intentionally widened. I went to university in Greensboro, and lived there and in Burlington, and in the hinterlands surrounding them. Greensboro has SIX colleges and universities, and the crazy is strong there. Asheville used to be a decent , out of the way place, but the Marxists have taken over the college there, and are changing the character of the area. That is how these lunatics got a foothold in Asheville.
When I was a student at the university in Greensboro, I was already an "old man", comparatively speaking. I was in my 30's among a campus full of teenagers - or what I perceived as teenagers. They were all gung-ho and all about changing the world... except that they tended not to even see the folks diligently working to make their lives better, or worse, if they did see them, they made fun of them and treated them like dirt. The maintenance folks, the groundskeepers, the cooks, ALL of the support staff seemed beneath them, and the kiddies acted accordingly. At the time, I chalked it up to their youth and inexperience of the real world, but I've since come to think of it as something more pernicious. They were actually taking rather well to the indoctrination, and that was one result of it.
NC may be in danger of soon "flipping" to the Marxists as VA recently did, solely based on the votes from the concentrated and heavily populated urban areas. While I was there, there was a heavy influx of Leftists moving into NC and infiltrating it from northern climes, primarily New York. That's how they do it, y'all. It's what happened in VA - Northern VA, a minority of the state, and a few other heavily urbanized areas, managed to gain a plethora of Marxist outsiders who tipped the vote, and then they started following the lead of Bloomberg, also an outsider but one willing to inject massive outside money into VA politics to flip it.
