Every single time I hear or read a recital of what happened that day and the days, months and years following I tear up inside.
I lost 2 grandfathers during WW2 : One who made it through sword beach but died later in Arnhem (Opération Market Garden) and another in Africa fighting against Rommel.
Heroes.
I myself served my country and queen many years ago and saw some serious shit and my son has followed our foot steps here in France....
Blessed be to our fallen heros, brothers and sisters in arms who fought for their future kids and generations to follow.
May they rest in everlasting peace.
