Growing up on a farm with a good horse and dog I grew up watching these types of movies...the kind of movies where evil is vanquished by the hands of good people. It brings a warm spot to my heart to see good prevail....Now that I am much older I think of all the young souls that were sacrificed and their names never to be known after only one or two generations just like the gods they preyed to; yet they died for what they believed in or for a few shekels... All the gods they preyed to never came to their aid..... kinda like today when one is on their knees praying for deliverance as the blade cuts their throat.
I have wondered if there is such a thing as reincarnation as some of the stories we hear are pretty interesting; if there is such a thing it might explain how some people are today IMO... someone who hates dogs died in a past life while being eaten by dogs etc etc...Not saying it is not a possibility as it is a fairy tale like most things people believe today.
Anyway the movie is a period piece, enjoy the flick if you are into this type of action yarn.
Edit to add; No matter how great the ruler or how many people he kills he will never kill the one who will replace him.
