The mysteries of Tweet Activity analytics
#1
At least I'm not on Facebook. For one thing, I rather like being pseudonymous, and I understand that Facebook insists on knowing your real identity.

But I knew that I would need to find some internet way of promoting the books I was hoping to publish, and Twitter was willing to take my word for it that "Stephen Disraeli" is my real name. I may have to apologise to the genuine holders of that name later. I usually add a hashtag to a tweet, so that at least anyone searching that hashtag at the right time is likely to find them.
Naturally, it would be helpful to me to understand what effect my experimental tweets are having, and Twiiter provides a page under the title "Tweet Activity analytics", which can be very revealing, but it would be a lot more useful if I understood more clearly what the various statistics mean.

In a nutshell, I need to understand the significance of, and difference between
Impressions
Organic impressions, and
Engagements.

These daily statistics are shown on a graph, and also on a table. The number of Organic Impressions (on the graph) is always at least twice the number of ordinary Impressions (on the table), which leads me to suppose there must be a difference, but I have no idea what is necessary to produce either of them. Perhaps it is an Organic Impression if the searcher sees it on the screen when the page opens up, and an ordinary Impression if he has to scroll down first.

It is easy to guess that Engagements includes things like Replies, Retweets, Likes, and Link Clicks, which are also counted individually. However, because I don't get much of anything at the moment, I can see that I'm gettng unexpected Engagement figures even when NONE of the individual types of "engagement" are showing up. So pehaps there is another factor boosting those figures.

So my question is this; Does anyone understand the workings of Twitter enough to be able to explain how these statistics are generated and what, exactly, they are showing?
