When I go to change my password, I click on the link and the change password screen comes up.  When I click in the box to enter the old password I get a popup which says the connection is not secure.  I checked the lock status and it also shows not secure.  I don't really want to enter a new password in a non-secure connection.

Is there another way to change my password?  Like...can I send the new to one of the Admins and have them change it for me?  Or, am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

FDC

Yes you can PM any of the Admins or myself and we can change it for you.
the Whole Secure Thingy is just Weird! We don't know why it says that.
But sure you can pm me and I'll do that for you.

It's because I never was able to fix the https tunnel. HTTPS gives users an illusion of security when making a connection, and some will not connect without it. Theoretically, someone could tap into a connection that runs through normal http and collect data from it. The data they are usually looking for is credit card numbers to steal. With https, the communications are encrypted with a lightweight encryption algorithm (currently the government approved AES-256) before being sent, which gives the user an illusion of security. There are, however, folks out there who can bat that aside and decrypt it on the fly, because they MADE the algorithm. It's those same folks who have the capability of monitoring connections, so the https is a feel good measure meant to increase consumer confidence for financial transactions. It doesn't really protect anyone from the people they need protection from, but it sure helps increase their confidence, and therefore internet commerce!

Unless an entire computer is encrypted with strong encryption, and is never turned on with an OS that can decrypt it, all the information on it is vulnerable. While it is running with such an operating system, the encryption is moot, and can be stolen by a hacker much more easily than going to the trouble of monitoring a connection from somewhere in the middle. That's why I NEVER keep financial information or anything sensitive on my computers that are capable of connecting to the internet.

.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
