Birdfall
#1
over the past few years, birds have been mysteriously falling out of the sky, and are found dead in flocks around the world. No one knows why. recently, in northern Mexico, such a birdfall was caught on a security camera:

Now that just looks weird as hell to me, for several reasons.

"Experts" are trying to explain it away as a migratory flock fleeing from a predator. I don't think so.

First, I've seen migratory flocks all my life, but I have never, ever seen one that was that tightly compacted. It looks like a solid ball of birds just splatting into the ground. It's hard to see any light between them as the ball of birds falls, and that ain't normal. Migratory flocks DO follow a lead bird, and their aerobatics can be a sight to behold, but they are never, EVER, packed that tightly. They wouldn't be able to flap their wings to fly if that were the case, and if there is one thing birds know, it's what it takes to fly.

Second, one predator could not drive a ball of birds like that. it might hit a bird or two on the fringes of the flock, but it would certainly not panic the entire flock into driving itself into the ground.

Third, these are a variety of blackbirds. I have watched blackbirds, and crows, beat the living crap out of hawks and drive them off. I saw that just about a month ago, watched a mere 4 crows drive off a red-tailed hawk (bueto bueto). They dive, and peck, and harass the bird of prey until it realizes that being there is not worth the effort. I've seen it happen dozens, maybe hundreds, of times, so it would be hard to convince me that a predator would drive an entire flock that big into such a panic.

No, I think it was something else entirely, but I'm at a loss as to what that could be. It looks like there may be "no go" pockets in the air for birds, and they can't detect it until they are in it. Maybe chemical clouds, maybe super frigid pockets, but there is something there that seems to be dropping them out of the air in compact masses,

Chemical clouds are doubtful to me, because the phenomenon is world-wide, and I think it would be difficult to hide chemical pockets that toxic all around the world.

So, I don't know. What do y'all think?

Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
