Actually, that's one I don't remember, but this 1959 speech by Nikita Khrushchev ties into the 45 communist goals read into the Congressional Record in 1963 really well.

After doing my due diligence with some "fact checking" looks like that may be an urban legend created from a combination of incidents that started in the fall of 1960 and from some remarks by Ronald Reagan in 1961. The story then got repeated as time went on.

I'm inclined to believe that this speech occurred if Snopes said it didn't. But it sounds highly likely that the story played out like they portray it. Not like a little McCarthy era propaganda couldn't hurt at the moment. IMO it's too bad that Joe McCarthy was maligned as an extremist and made into a pariah by the left. We could have nipped this in the bud back then, now it's probably too late.
