The "truth" is a strange thing, people and groups will always search for the "truth" that suits there own beliefs and wants, I think its call in English conformation bias. The sad thing is that it seems to be impossible to even share information with people who are in the grip of this.
They will continue to search out information that feeds the delusion no matter how delusional it seems to other people.
Perhaps its a replacement for religion, or a need to seem important or an escape from loneness in a world that does not seem to care
