California laws state that it is illegal, against the law and a crime for anyone 18 years of age or older to have sex with anyone under the age of 18. What is so hard to understand about that?

This bill does not change the law about having sex with underage persons nor does it permit or allow pedophilia.

If an 18 year old is caught having sex with a 17 year old, even if consensual, that is statutory rape, against the law and the 18 year old is subject to full prosecution under the law. If convicted, it is up to the judge's discretion if the perpetrator has to register as a sex offender as long as the sexual relationship is heterosexual in nature.

In the case of an 18 year old male caught having consensual sex with 17 year old male, which is still open for prosecution as statutory rape under the law, there was no discretion given to judges whether the perpetrator had to register as a sex offender - it was automatic. All this new law does is give a judge equal opportunity to decide who has to register as a sex offender. In either case, the leeway of a 10 year gap is ridiculous.

Sex with minors is illegal in California, period.

IMO, regardless of the cause, denying climate shift is "fucking ignorant" and why doesn't the [b] formatting code for bold text work?
