Newsom Signs Bill to Amend Sex Offender Law

Since 1944, judges decided whether a man had to register as a sex offender if he had sex with a female minor 14 years of age or older when the age difference is not more than 10 years

So if I understand this correctly, it was already up to a judge's discretion if a 24 year old man had to register as a sex offender when caught having sex with a 14 year old girl - WHICH IS A CRIME AND NOT SOMETHING THIS BILL LEGALIZES.

In the case of a 24 year old man having sex with a 14 year old boy (or a 19 year old having sex with a 17 year old), there was no discretion whether or not the older person had to register as a sex offender even though sex with underage persons is still a crime. Men who molest boys were given different treatment than men who molest girls.

Homosexual men are not any more likely to molest children than heterosexual men. True fixated pedophiles don't really care if their victims are male or female.

Rather than allow the discretion of a judge who has to register as a sex offender and who doesn't depending on the sex of the victim, the new law should have forced all of them to register and take away the judge's ability to make that decision or at least shorten the 10-year difference to maybe 2 years?

This law does not legalize pedophilia. It just gives men who molest boys the same legal opportunity to not be listed as sex offenders as men who molest girls. All of them should be shot.
